Excellent location, plain rooms

Posted 08-Jul-2014
The hotel location was excellent. In the middle of the old town, close to everything but the courtyard allows for calm and quiet. The room was a bit plain, almost spartan but it was comfortable; also immaculate and roomy. The breakfast was good.

good location

Posted 09-Jun-2014
Pros: the hotel has an historic story to tell.
Cons: the breakfast can get a bit busy at 9am so you might have to hang around untill a table comes free,
Location: the location is very good, only a two minute walk to the main area of the old town, and no more than 30 minutes to most of the museums and POI.
This visit was part of my quest to visit all the Balkan states and I was not dissapointed with Riga. Plenty to do and see and all within a very small area thus making it easy to get around on foot. There are plenty of eating places catering for all tastes and at a good price. Museums and places of interest are plentifull and like the other states very cheap to get in. Dont neglect the fire brigade museum and the Tv tower, just because they are the furthest away 20 minute walk!!

In old town

We were in a junior suite. Adequate but minimal facilities. No tea/coffee making facilities in room. Excellent buffet breakfast. It appeared that hotel had a lot of coach yours as guests. Quiet location.

Strange hotel...

Posted 08-May-2014
Pros: cleaniness, very good breakfast, ancient building, location
Cons: Staff should be more attentive to clients requests
Location: Historical centre
In general, everything here is ok - breakfast, cleaniness, location (historical centre of Riga). But... The room was very strange. Don`t believe the pictures of rooms - only your eyes. When I booked the room, I was satisfied with the picture, but in reality it was absolutely another room - smaller and narrower. The most strange thing that it was (from the words of staff) the same category of rooms that i booked (Junior suite). View from the window - it's something terrible - some hardware patio 2 to 6 meters ... And constantly working ventilation of the restaurant - hard to sleep at night ... Secondly, when I booked, I asked for me and my wife 1 king-size bed, but they gave me the room with two separated beds... I asked to change the room - they refused! Impressions from Riga were a little spoiled ...

The hotel is extremely basic and at the low end of anything comparable in Riga. I would not recommend this to anyone other than budget travellers.

One more nice stay at Konventa Seta

Posted 11-Apr-2014
Pros: Most everything
Cons: More selection on the television service. Too much Russian language programs - Latvia is not Russia.
Location: Everything in Old Riga. Great location.
We have stayed many times at Konventa Seta. It is central in Old Riga, convenient to almost everything there. The price is right, the accommodations are very adequate, and the staff has always been very good. The hotel is undergoing some sprucing up, which it needs - but for a many hundred years old former convent grounds, it is doing quite well. Highly recommended to anyone.

Perfect old town location

Great location for a really good price. Near to all the bars and restaurants. Nothing fancy about the rooms but for the price and location couldn't fault it.

The hotel is a converted Convent in Old Riga.

Posted 19-Feb-2014
Pros: The situation and peace and quiet despite being in the middle of the city.
Cons: A kettle with tea and coffee making facilities would have been nice.
Location: See above.
This is a friendly hotel situated in the very midst of all that Old Riga has to offer. There are many beautiful historical buildings, museums and churches to be found along the cobbled streets. The Opera house is not far away and compares very favourably with the Royal Opera house, Covent Garden but tickets may be bought at a fraction of the price. The standard of both ballet and opera is fantastic.

In the center of Old Town, with the ancient city wall part of the construction. What do you want for 85USD? Clean rooms, yes; great service, yes. With a 4 am hotel departure to make our 6 am flight Inga ordered sandwiches and fruit for our party to eat on the way since the restaurant was closed. She brewed coffee and tea an placed in to go cups. Are there better hotels in Riga? Sure. But I will never stay anywhere else.
