“Xmas markets and riga - fantastic”

The hotel is in a fantastic location. Use Baltic taxi from the airport as cheaper. We had a suite which was a good size. We had to ask for more pillows and bedding and the heating did not work but they resolved it immediately. Breakfast was good and staff very friendly. Would stay again and recommend.

“Quite a nice place to stay night or two”

Could be loud around the weekend nights as the place is surrounded by number of night clubs and vived streets may bring certain discomfort to you at nights. However, in general i would probably stay here. You get what you oay for

“Great Location”

Great location, close to literally all surrounding tourist attractions. Noticed a lot of sound during the night through the wall, but not so disturbing loud.

Area recommendations
Every place is recommendable, as it is situated in the heart of the old town.

“Perfect location, great price, historical building”

The locations is perfect and price is unbeatable. It is located in a historical building (about 800 years old) with all major attractions of Old City surrounding it. Rooms are clean, check-in staff is friendly and professional. My only grip is with cleaning staff who were way too loud talking to each other in the morning and thus waking me up.

Dining
Best place to relax after a day of sightseeing (remember - all streets of Old City are cobblestoned, which is hard on feet) is a Kama Tea Room at 26/28 Jekaba Iela - less than 10 minutes walk from the hotel.

“BARGAIN!”

What a fabulous find! Huge, spotlessly clean room, spacious breakfast room with an extensive choice which was regularly topped up and best of all.....right in the centre of the beautiful old town. We could not fault this hotel.

Area recommendations
Visit the War Museum and the Museum of Occupation, they are both free.
Dining
The LIDO , Alus Seta, in the Old Town offers a fantastic buffet and good local beer.

“Great Hotel, Great Location.”

This Hotel is a gem, right in the middle of Old Riga, safe, quiet and within walking distance of all the sights, very convienent for the Opera House. The staff are most helpfull, the food is good, and more reasonably priced than ajacent resturants. My wife and I stayed for a week in september 2011 and would not hesitate to reccomend it, we had a lovely time. Generally Riga is a safe place to visit, with people very friendly and welcoming.

Area recommendations
St Peters church spire, views from top amazing. Central Market for the local atmosphere and sheer amount of produce on display. Acadamy of Science 17th floor observation deck, even greater views of old Riga. A visit to Latvian National Opera House, amazing building inside and out, with brilliant performances at reasonable prices.

“Konventa Seriously Gooda”

This is a very well located hotel with easy access to the main transport hub of railway station and coach terminal. The value of the room for the quality of what was on offer was exceptional and certainly the best accomodation of a 3 and a half week trip around the Baltics. That said we had a very good rate from Expedia which meant that the room was lower in price than many of the twin bed rooms to be found in hostels in the surrounding area. The room was spacious, the breakfast extensive and the on site terrace restaurant one of the cheapest but best quality in the city. Would definately stay there again and recommend it to others.

Area recommendations
I would recommend a walk around the Art Nouveau area as well as to the other side of the river to look back at the old town. The Markets are a buzzing centre of daily life and of course the old town with the very poignant reminder of the past that is the Museum of Latvian Occupation next to the Blackheads House.

“Great Location”

Good hotel in a great location, only yards from the main square and a few minutes walk to the main sights in the old town, with plenty of bars and restaurants close by. Nice clean rooms, although there was some noise from the street outside. Would definately recommend it to others.

Area recommendations
Would recommend going up the tower of St Peters church - great views of the city!
