Great hotel in an excellent position

Posted 28-Mar-2014
Pros: Creative use of space within the old building, spacious, interestingly set out rooms furnished in a modern style, well maintained and kept clean
Location: In addition to all the places of interest within Riga, the seaside town Majori worth a visit by train, 30mins. Beautiful beach, nice restaurants.
The Hotel Centra is in a great position within the old town, close to some great bars and restaurants. The room I had was at the rear of the hotel, very quiet, so can't comment on whether the rooms at the front are affected by any noise from the street. Stayed in Riga for 4 nights sightseeing (possibly 1 day too long as a solo traveller, the return flight not till 22.00 making the last day drag a little). Good atmosphere particularly within the Old Town, never felt unsafe walking around the city, day or night. Food and drink prices similar to most EU capitals. Riga well worth a visit, would recommend this hotel for its location and more.

Great hotel in Riga's Old Town

Posted 12-Feb-2014
Pros: location, cleanliness, staff
This hotel was really, really good! We were worried that it would be less than average as we got such a good price on the hotel. We were wrong. Friendly, welcoming, helpful staff. Nice room, clean, comfortable and well equipped. Superb location in the old town, just round the corner from St Peter's Church, a few minutes walk to anywhere else you would want to see. Breakfast was good, nice choice but don't go if you are expecting full English and shreddies!! You won't get it but you'll get a good choice of hot and cold items for a big breakfast.

Nice hotel ruined by noisy location

A nice and clean hotel with friendly staff. But it is surrounded by sevetal night clubs that are extremely noisy until 6 or 7am! At least one of them has loudspeakets outside. Impossible to sleep.

Close to everything hotel

Pros: I like its location and the staff is very friendly in helping us out.
Cons: Maybe to cater to muslims staying at the hotel, they could change their breakfast menu to lamb or chicken or beef. its always bacon.
Location: Lots of good places to eat nearby and shopping center is just 100 meters away.
My wife and i enjoyed our short stay at Hotel Centra Riga. It is located in a the old city and close to all major things that a tourist would like to see. Staff can speak english, russian, latvian and i enjoyed their breakfast buffet. Its very near the bus stop to get to the airport too.

Hotel in the centre of the old town in Riga.

Posted 24-Sep-2013
Pros: The Location. The large room and the lovely little bar which was open till late.
Cons: It would have been great if there was a Restaurant for dining in the Evening.
Location: In the heart of Riga old town, lots of shops, bars and restaurants nearby. Some beautiful buildings. Riga old town was a pleasure to visit.
Everything about the hotel was great. We had a Junior Suite which was huge. When we could not get the Safe to work, a member of the Hotel Staff came immediately to fix it. The Staff were pleasant and friendly. The only downside was the Bar below in the street was open All Night and played loud music until 7.00am!

Mostly Great

Posted 04-Sep-2013
Pros: Big room great staff.
Cons: Breakfast (a bit - it wasn't bad), noise insulation (although to be expected in summer in the middle of a party town)
Location: middle of old town. Plenty to see, do and eat!
The room was great - really big and clean with a ginormous bed and fabulous views (we had a junior suite I think). The staff are also lovely - they go out of their way to help. The breakfast was pretty fine - not fabulous but on the ok end of reasonable (the fruit is the excellent exception!). Only one minor gripe really - yes the view is great from the front of the building but it is a bit noisy so don't be at the front of the building if you're sensitive to noise.

Center of City

Posted 02-Sep-2013
Pros: Location
Cons: Parking
Location: There are numerous restaurants and nightlife nearby.
Came in on a late flight. The hotel is in the center of the city. Had to find it through traffic and then find a place to park. Had a great late night meal. Overall reasonable stay for one night.

Lovely hotel in a very central location in old Rig

Posted 22-Aug-2013
Pros: We liked the contemporary feel of the hotel and the spacious rooms.
Cons: Perhaps better noise-proofing of windows as it gets quite noisy late in the evenings.
Location: The hotel is situated in the centre of the old town, there are plenty of tourist attractions including the Riga Cathedral and St Peter's Church.
My husband and I went with our two boys to spend a couple of days in old Riga and decided to stay at the Centra Hotel. The hotel staff were very helpful, friendly and accommodating, even allowing us to check-out half an hour later. The room was spacious and airy, with large windows and cute bathroom. There were free bottles of water in our room and nice toiletries too. The only downfall was that the pubs and bars near by operate until late and therefore it can get quite noisy, but otherwise it is a great hotel and we would certainly stay there again. Highly recommended.
