Room had steps inside

Posted 14-Oct-2014
Cheapest rooms at 140 dollars per night have steps inside and are small. Paying more for this hotel is simply too expensive.

Great location for walking Old Town

Posted 10-Aug-2014
Pros: Large room, good bed, quiet, location
Cons: The gap in the shower that lets water on to the floor needs to be fixed and glass door extended 6 inches.
Location: Close to Old Town and walking distance to all sights, restaurants, and bars.
Lovely comfortable room with huge king size bed. The reception staff are friendly and helpful. The room was very quiet. Great location for walking through Old Town to the canal and the parks. Easy to get to by car. Breakfast was good, and they will make omelets, soft boiled eggs, or fried eggs upon request at no extra charge.

Loved it!

Best view of Old Riga from the 6th floor Terrace. Even better than any of the 5 start hotels. Great location for exploring Old Riga and easy access to the train and bus stations if you plan to travel within Latvia at all. The staff at Avalon is very accommodating and do what they can to make you a happy customer.

It is a very good hotel in that corporate sort of way. Not a lot of character but does everything well. Breakfast was excellent.

ideal visitor location

The Avalon was ideal for our requirements. Good price deal. Well located to explore Riga city. Friendly and helpful staff. Breakfasts are good if uninspiring but plenty of choice and quantity.

Happy with it

Good location for access to old town and the central market. Our room overlooked the tram line so it was noisy with the window open. Ask for a room overlooking old town if you want it quieter. Staff was great!

Nice hotel! Located close to a mall and food!

Posted 25-Feb-2014
Pros: Hotel Staff, Free Breakfast, Bathrooms, and it looks awesome!
Cons: Beds could be a little better, but the are tolerable for a few nights.
Location: Freedom Monument, Skyline Bar, bus tours, trams, plenty to do near by!
I am an English speaking individual who went to Riga to see what it had to offer. The hotel staff had excellent English for it not being their native language. The free breakfast and room service was excellent! Everything that you need is right around the corner and the tram system is directly out the front door!
