“A Lovely Visit”

We wanted our overnight stay in Richmond to be special as we were traveling further South for the Thanksgiving. The welcome was wonderful from the minute we pulled up to the hotel. They upgraded us to an even larger double room when I mentioned that this was our first visit. The hotel is stunning. Our bedroom and bathroom were spotless and nicely furnished. We had breakfast TJ's (their bistro) and it was superb (service and food). The concierge was very helpful. We will most certainly be back!

The area around the capital building is lovely. I wish we had more time to explore.

“Wonderful place to stay”

When we go to Richmond for shows at the Landmark etc. we always stay at the Jefferson. Their free shuttle service to the performances is a life saver. ( Trying to find parking spaces around the Landmark can be difficult. ) The staff is extremely courteous and helpful. Have not met a grouchy employee yet! The hotel itself is gorgeous. The rooms are spacious, comfortable and quiet. I would highly recommend this hotel... it is worth the price!

Area recommendations
Richmond is a wonderful city. I would recommend trips to Maymont, Lewis Ginter botanical gardens, the Children's science museum, and west Cary St for the restaurants and shops.

“Extraordinary hotel. Will return, luxurious.”

southern hospitality is alive and well in Richmond at the Jefferson Hotel. Better than the Homestead, and what service. Worth a little extra to be driven, well attended and your pets adored. Can't wait to swim in that pool again, or have the lovely tea. Very special place.

Dining
Restaurants at the Jefferson all great value, great food.

“Historic Hotel”

The Jefferson Hotel was fabulous. We only spent one night there, but for that short of time, we enjoyed it. We went to High Tea at 4pm and comfortably enjoyed it for 2 hours. Breakfast the next morning was reasonable and very good. Learning about the history of the alligators in the hotel and seeing the alligator statues throughout was interesting.

Area recommendations
Tour of the capitol building and grounds was interesting. Maggie Walker's House, National Park Site, was educational.

“Gorgeous hotel!”

We have traveled the world and I have to say the Jefferson is one of the most lovely and comfortable hotels we have stayed in. The service was exceptional and friendly, including a complimentary car service which took us to and from the Art Museum. The main dining room, Lamaire, is wonderful, great food and service. We will go back the next time we're in the area!

“Magnificent Belle Epoque Hotel”

Before one even enters the grand lobby of the Jefferson one is struck by the entrance, which sports fluted white columns and a bronze statue of the last alligator to live inside the hotel lobby (named 'Pompey', he died in 1948). Once inside there are more columns and a Belle Epoque atrium topped with a large medallion of Tiffany glass. One could imagine latter day Scarlett O'Haras flirting beneath it. The hotel has brought itself up-to-date with a gym, an indoor swimming pool, an informal grill and free internet access. The hotel also has excellent room service and a most helpful concierge. It is centrally located and offers a complementary shuttle service within a three-mile range. I would definitely recommend this hotel just to see the lobby.

“Very memorable”

We stayed at The Jefferson Hotel on April 30. We were upgraded to a Deluxe room at no cost. The hotel is one of the best I've ever stayed. Our room was so nice and quiet. Everything was super clean and the location was perfect. Walking distance to VCU and many other famous landmarks. Overall I highly recommend this hotel.

“everything i expected and more”

The Jefferson is an exceptional hotel and lived up to everything we had heard about the place. Once we checked in there wasn't a moment when we weren't greated by name through the hotel. The staff was outstanding. We dined there at lunch and at breakfast.......lunch was very good and breakfast was great.

Area recommendations
Richmond is a very comfortable city with things to do that cover all interests. We visited art and history museums, as well as Civil War sites. Also attended a concert at the Coliseum. Everyplace was within a close enough proximity to The Jefferson that we never felt rushed to get from one venue to another ...even with stopps at the hotel alond the way.

“Historic Hotel”

The hotel is beautiful, nicely furnished and well decorated. We enjoyed high tea in the lobby on Sunday afternoon, drinks in the bars, and the convenience of the location for visiting our daughter who attends the VCU Brandcenter. We were disappointed to only have two bath towels for three people the first morning. The next day we had enough towels but the hot water was shut off to repair a pipe. I suppose repairs are to be expected in such an old hotel. We would stay there again, imagining Scarlett O'Hara descending the grand staircase to meet Rhett.
