“Cheap but not cheerfull”

Arrived on Saturday night to find the restauraunt closed and nearby cafes empty, this was Saturday night! Service at reception was ok, the receptionist spoke good English and was helpful, although her collegue prefered to chat on her mobile. Service in the hotel bar was so slow I left and found somewhere else. Room was clean and comfortable, but, as it was a warm night I had a choice, be kept awake by the noisy A/C or try to sleep in a stuffy room, hotel is by a busy road, so opening a window was not a good option. Local area was a bit run down and deserted. Hotel was reasonable value and central to the city and local transport. But I doubt I would stay there again.

I was planning to take several day trips so I thought I'd stay by the Train section. While the hotel is in the Presqu'ile (the middle of Lyon) - a pretty good spot for visiting the main Lyon tourist sites (by metro at least) -- the other train station Part-Dieu (in the Eastern section of town) is where all the trains I had to take went from/to. So if you're saying for Lyon tourism it's fine - if you're staying for convenience to the train station, not so helpful. Restaurant was pretty good for trying Lyon specialities (I was sick & didn't want to go out for food my first day). However, it was closed for 3 nights (& one night I saw a big group of people in there so maybe it was closed for a travel group??) The area surrounding the hotel has a few Italian restaurants, but is not a great place for looking for food. WAY overcharged for internet 5 Euros for 1/2 hour (paid 1 Euro at an internet cafe in the next town). Staff was helpful. Room was clean & your basic 2 star lodging. I'd return.

Il n'y a pas grand chose à redire sur l'hôtel en lui même. Les chambres sont rénovées, propres, toutes pleines de petites attentions (wifi, biscuits, café, tongs...), Le service est agréable et le prix canon. La chambre économique est un peu petite si on veut y séjourner plusieurs jours à deux mais la chambre supérieure est vraiment nickel. Evidemment, le sud de la gare de Perrache, sans être un coupe gorge, n'est pas le coin le plus attrayant de Lyon et vous croiserez probablement quelques demoiselles travaillant sur les trottoirs des environs. Mais on ne peut pas avoir des chambres de cette qualité en plein Lyon à un prix aussi bas sans quelques inconvénients....
