“so so”
Location is extremely convenient if you have to take a train; you only need to step out of the hotel 5mn before your train. Other than that, rooms are small, bathroom needs serious update; the HVAC system had to be stopped because it would beep continuously. Breakfast was alright but expensive
“Good choice”
This is a nice hotel, location is great. Staff is excellent, helpful. Room was rather spartan and the bathroom very old. We did not have breakfast at the hotel as it seemed overpriced at 9.50 euros. Instead we went to Monoprix, purchased a baguette, brie, fruit and two cups of coffee from Quick and had a lovely breakfast for two for 5.30 euros.
“Recommend but.....”
Positives first: Location is excellent, immediately in front of Lyon's main train station. Hotel is cheap and if you do not look for a lot of comfort or luxury and don't stay longer than 2 or 3 days, it's okay to stay there. Staff was friendly and helped giving directions. Room was clean. Negatives: As described by other travelers, room's are small and there are no shower curtains so forget about standing up while taking a shower. Couldn't even take a bath because the stopper in the bathtub was missing. Both bathroom and room were very small but acceptable. I cannot recommend this hotel without reservation. It's good for somebody on a budget who doesn't spend much time in the hotel itself and who doesn't demand much comfort. Again, no real problems (no noise problems either) with hotel, it's cheap, conveniently located for people arriving by train (even easy to reach from the airport), but you get what you pay for (and that is not much).
“ridiculous”
Very poor maintenance (window and shower broken), dirty (bed was not made). They would not let me iron my clothes in my room, and told me I should do it at the reception (!). Hotel location is great but it is not sufficient to overcome the problems there.
“Convient to the train station”
Hotel was in a very good location for travellers coming into Lyon Part Dieu. There are some shops in the area, but the main turist areas are a bit farther away. Good value for money if you are there on the weekend.
“It's all in the location, whether for business or leisure!”
The Athena Hotel's location couldn't be better adjacent to the Part Dieu TGV Station and across from Les Halles de Lyon (fabulous covered food market) and Part Dieu Shopping Center (largest in Europe). Its two-star rating is certainly more than adequate for comfort and cleanliness, albeit rooms are small - but you'll be out-and-about in Lyon, France's best kept secret - so don't tell too many people!
“Assessment of Athena”
The hotel was very nice. The breakfast was good, service was very nice and helpful, and the room was huge by European standards for a two-star hotel. The only drawback was the slipperiness of the tub, which had a hand-held Water Pik attached to the tap to turn it into a "shower". It is probably wise as a general rule to bring shower shoes on a trip to Europe anyway just in case.
“Hotel Athena à Lyon : à côté Gare Part Dieu”
Hotel confortable, à proximité immédiate de la gare de la Part Dieu. Accueil et prestations de bonne qualité
“Hotel Athena à Lyon”
Trés bonne situation de l'hôtel. Personnel compétent et agréable. Les chambres sont calmes mais mériteraient d' être rénovées. Le petit déjeuner pourrait être moins cher ( 7 euros à la place de 10 ?).
“Hotel Athena Lyon Part Dieu”
Globalement satisfaisant. Sa proximité de la gare, ainsi que des différents transports en commun en font un hôtel très pratique. Cependant l'accueil n'est pas très chaleureux...
