“Very good”
A superb hotel in a good location on the bank of the Neckar. The staff are very friendly and helpful but not overbearing. All in all a good place to stay and use as a base. One day we walked to the old city and then back, in all about 7 hours including some shopping and some grazing.
“Acceptable for business or holiday stay”
Nice location by river, 15 min walk to Bismark Platz, 30 mins vigorous walk to Alte Brucke. Breakfast good, restaurant very acceptable. Rooms comfortable, beds very comfortable Hotel Parking and internet expensive by UK standards
“Very ordinary”
No tea/coffee making facilities in room. Very dated hotel rooms much in need of refurbishment. No pay per view movies - pretty much just German tv channels. No dressing gowns. Gym was one of the better hotel gyms (has free weights). Pool looks good although didn't use it. About a 20min walk along the river into the main shopping district. Convenient for trams and hotel sells tram tickets. Can't see how this hotel gets a 4 star rating - possibly would stretch to 3.5star.
“Not for families”
We booked a triple bedroom with a king size bed and confirmed the booking the day prior. Despite this the motel did not have the requested room available so could only offer a twin room with a fold out cot for the third bed. The room was not ready with the third bed and reception seemed surprised with the booking. I am sure the motel is great for couples, but not for families as we were treated as an after thought.
“Would have rated higher if they did not charge extra for services that should be included”
Very Nice Hotel. The location is easy to get to but a little far from the old part of town. If you are traveling on business and work is paying for the hotel you will be very happy. If you are like me and you are traveling for pleasure you may be disappointed. This was the most expensive Hotel I stayed at and for the price they should have included parking, WIFI, and continental breakfast in the cost of the room.
“Room with a view”
We truly enjoyed our stay at the Marriott Heidelberg. The front desk staff was helpful and informative. Our room was spacious and had a wonderful view of the river. We were traveling with a baby and there was plenty of room for the cot in the room. The bed was also a true king sized bed, not two singles pushed together. The breakfast was plentiful and had more variety than most European breakfast buffets! The hotel is about a 10-15 min. pleasant walk along the river to the old town. I would definitely recommend staying here if you visit Heidelberg.
“Beds need to be updated”
This is a lovely hotel, with great staff, in a charming city. I can't emphasize how nice, and helpful, and courteous the staff are. But our room, while quite nice, had a bed that was just worn out. You know the kind of wear that leaves a mountain peak down the center of the bed, and saggy edges decending to the outer periphery. For the price, and the brand, it's inexcuseable. We had a quite uncomfortable night, and my wife actually ended up on the floor at one point. I travel a lot, and see beds in various states of decay, but this was the worst I've ever seen. Room 326 - avoid it!
“Good place for a few nights in Heidelberg”
Great service by the conceriege/bellmen. Room service breakfast (I think it was the "All American") was excellent - plenty of delicious food and arrived quickly. Room had a small balcony with a nice view. The wait to check out was a little long, but all of the staff were friendly and efficient.
“Not uo to standard”
Location good but for a claimed business hotel I expected a safe and also a kettle to make my own coffee. Also no comments card within hotel, perhaps only on website. I also received a free US news sheet each morning. Ok, I speak English but am not an American so not interested in this.
“Perfect location!”
Beautiful setting on the Neckar River. Fantastic breakfast w/great selection of foods. Courteous and helpful staff. Excellent value for the price. Would recommend it to everyone traveling to Heidelberg!
