“A very warm welcome to Iceland”
A very comfortable and well-located hotel with exceptionally helpful and friendly staff. I enjoyed staying here far more that at the much larger and less personal hotels in the city (though customer service was friendly and good almost everywhere I went in Iceland.)
“Nice small and quiet hotel”
This was our first trip to Iceland and we chose this hotel due to the location, ratings and a good rate for a November weekend. The hotel was in a nice and quiet location, but very close to the main streets. The room was fine, but the bathroom was small and dated. Didn't try the restaurant, but wasn't very busy except at breakfast. The front desk staff was excellent! All the people we dealt with were extremely helpful, spoke perfect English and were friendly. Their restaurant picks were very good and they helped make the experience a good one. I would stay here again, but probably would ask for a room on a higher floor than the first.
“Impressed but noisy”
The apartment was more than we expected clean, spacious and great location in terms of the city. Our only two complaints are regarding the apartments, not the main hotel.Specifically room 601 there is a popular night club across the street. The music is so loud that it shook our room until 5 am! IF your not into sleep then this is a great place for you. In the apartments there is no elevator we had to lug up 6 flights with all our bags up the narrow stairs to the apartment.
“great location”
5 min walk to shops in downtown Reykjavik. No hotel parking, but lots of places on nearby streets (first come, first serve). Staff very helpful. Breakfast very expensive for what is offered. Lots of cafe's within a few minutes walk.
“Good, moderately priced hotel near the center of a lovely City, Reykjavik.”
Good hotel. The price is right. Free wireless internet. 8 minute walk from the center of town. Good beds. Quiet neighborhood. Adequate restaurant and bar.
“Iceland Summer 2011”
Great location! Very helpful staff.
“OK hotel room, great location, overpriced”
The location is excellent - within walking distance of all the downtown spots. There is a great cafe across the street for breakfast. The room was mostly clean, but the shower had mold spots, didn't drain properly, and was extremely cramped. The front desk staff were mostly helpful, but forgot to tell us a bus pickup for a tour had changed. There is free wireless, but it cut out constantly even though one of the access points was just outside our room. They tout themselves as four stars, but this is not accurate. It was an OK hotel room - worth about half what we paid for it.
“Fine (no better, no worse)”
Excellent location--in the thick of things but on a quiet street, even in the middle of raucous early morning. Staff was helpful. Still the rooms are smallish and unremarkable unless you spring for the best ones, and there is a shortage of outlets.
“NOT RECOMMENDED IF YOU HAVE A CAR”
Room was spacious and clean. Location was very good; 2 blocks from the main street. The bad: We had a car and it took a very long time to get to the hotel because of its location with one way street and you couldn't see the hotel name and no indication this was even a hotel. Found by asking people. Only metered street parking. Front desk unapologetic about parking and told no change for us to put into the meter. We got change elsewhere and carried our luggage from our parking space in rain. Meters expired every couple of hours, so that was a concern and parking places rare, resulting in us not taking the car out at night for fear of not finding a parking place when we returned. The day we left I asked to exchange change for bills. Man at the desk said there were no small bills so he couldn't help us. (I thought they could use the change to hand out to other clients who needed to park the car. ) 1 other incident where front desk insisted we had shampoo, etc. in our room, but we didn't. Interestingly, this was the most expensive hotel we stayed at in Iceland in 3 weeks and the only one that did not come with an included breakfast. I assure you that my husband and I are nice foks and I don't know why the attitude of the young people working the desk was like it was. I only picked the hotel because of the previous high ratings. Of course, if we had no car, we would not have had these problems.
“Perfect location to the hub of the city. Walking distant to main attractions.”
Booked twin beds since traveling with a male friend. Tried to register early on the booking day but they were full, thus I needed to wait til after 2pm. Then once I returned they had upgraded me and booked me into a two bedroom apartment fully furnished with sofa area, dining rm, full kitchen, full bathroom. Immmaculately clean and well appointed. Very surprised but a perfect match for myself and male traveling companion. We each were able to have private space with no additional fees. Highly recommend.
