Clean, comfortable & good location

A lovely hotel. Immaculate. We had a deluxe room over looking moutains & sea. The breakfast has lots of choice & good if you are a vegetarian like myself. You can fill up on plenty of food & drinks in the morning. Staff are friendly & helpful. Nice gift shop too. The only thing we missed was a kettle!! Take a travel kettle with you if you stay here as rooms do not have them! Excellent value for money, easy access to motorways if you want to travel. A good base to stay in Reykjavik.

Cheap accomodation within walking distance

Pros: price location
Cons: cleanliness
Location: we had a short stay so didn';t fully explore laugadur free pool is apparently nearby and the hotel is only one road back from the coast
We chose the Hotel Cabin after reading some reviews on trip advisor. Most reviews commented on the small size of the room, but as were not lookikng for anything more luxurious than a base for other activities it seemed a good idea. They were right the rooms are very cosy and if you are not on very good terms with the person you are travelling with you may consider it a little too cosy. However like I say that suited us. The other thing in the reviews I read was that they were very clean. It is true that every day our beds were made and our towels were changed, though this did not make up for the fact that under our beds were the left overs from previous guests, at the front edge. There was a hip flask, toothbrush, insoles for shoes and the broken lightbulb from our lamp that didn't get fixed despite us asking on the first day. The breakfast was good, fresh daily and plentiful. The staff were mostly friendly and we even booked an excursion through the giftshop. Also we found the drinks in the bar to be much cheaper than going into town (unfortunately we didn't discover this until near the end of our holiday) Overall we enjoyed our stay thoroughly and chose to ignore what lurked beneath. As long as you are aware 'you get what you pay for', this will be a good place for your stay. We could easily walk into town in 15/20 mins and very close to the sea which shares some beautiful views.

Terrible

Keep looking. This place is terrible. You have to pay 20€ for limited wifi which they'll just cut off. Service was terrible and the room was is poor condition. Broken chair and bathroom fixtures.

Did exactly what it said on the cabin

Excellent value for money if you are on a budget. If not, upgrades were available. Our twin room was indeed cabin like compact and could have done with a small amount of restoration. Great sea and mountain view though! Was inexpensive and had UK TV in the room. We paid more on our last night in Iceland to stay in a more luxurious hotel and were disappointed to have left the Cabin which represented true value for money. Staff were friendly and helpful when advising and booking trips and the hotel does have a bar, which hadnt been clear from the description. Short walk to the sea front

A pleasant surprise.

Pros: It was cheap and cheerful but not nasty. I have stayed in establishments with higher star ratings and experienced musty rooms, uncomfortable beds etc
Cons: Not something that can be improved given the structure of the hotel but the inside rooms should be avoided if you're claustrophobic.
Location: Nicely located near the sea but a bit of a walk into town where most of the shops, restaurants etc are. Good if you want to get some walking in.
We were originally going to stay in a more upmarket hotel closer to downtown Reykjavic but the hotel double booked us. Fortunately Expedia found out before we actually flew out and were able to find us alternative accommodation at very short notice. I would not normally have chosen this hotel as it did seem rather basic "on paper" but as it turned out it was just fine - and almost half the price of our original choice. The room was tiny but it was fine for a three night stay. The complimentary buffet breakfast was adequate but you would be disappointed if you were hoping for hot food. I knew from reading others' reviews of the hotel that there were some rooms right in the middle of the hotel with no natural light i.e no windows and was concerned that with the short notice we might be assigned one of them. However we were given a room with a window and looking out to sea which was great.

Reasonable hotel

Posted 06-Sep-2013
Pros: Reasonable price for a hotel of this standard
Cons: Rooms are a bit small
Location: Location is a bit far from downtown, but certainly walkable.
Reasonable hotel, which is not bad for the price. Decent breakfast for Iceland. It is fair walk from downtown. Rooms are a bit small and very basic. The bed was very soft, too soft for my liking.
