“Classy hotel in the heart of Reykjavik”
We wanted comfort and also to be centrally located and we were not disapointed. The hotel was beautifully decorated and the space in the room was fabulous. The bed was enormous and certainly bigger than what I would say is king size and very comfortable. Minibar expensive, but then drinks generally are in Iceland. We were right next to a number of bars and resturants and the square was quite lively in the evenings. Some noise at night, but not to the extent that it ruined any sleep. Tourist information and main shopping street only 3-5 minutes walk away. Being a keen runner, I also had some great runs setting out from the hotel - along the coast and through the city, so did not mind that the hotel did not have any leisure facilities. Bus station is about 10-15 min walk from the hotel.
“Excellent hotel in a great spot in the old town”
Stayed in this hotel for a week and had spacious room overlooking the gardens in front of the hotel. Great spot with a fab cafe over the road with quick access to the main parts of the city centre
“Good central hotel - just watch out for the pub stragglers who can be a little loud at closing tim”
Hotel was of high standard and close to harbour. Lots of excellent restaurants and cafes nearby. Although it didn't keep me awake too much, the cathedral clock strikes every fifteen minutes. If you're not a night owl try and have lights out by midnight, that way you'll be fast asleep by the time the clubs n pubs close. Staff very helpful and are able to help book trips for you.
“Loved it!”
Go here!! They made our stay in Reykjavik wonderful and easy,
“Spacious, comfortable rooms, great location, helpful staff”
The rooms were very spacious with excellent amenities: heated bathroom floor and towel racks, comfortable beds, plenty of closet space. The decor is an attractive art deco concept in keeping with its construction in 1930, but with all the features of a modern hotel. The location is central to downtown Reykjavik and within walking distance to many of the city attractions, but in our room facing away from the street we had very little noise from the active Reykjavik nightlife. Staff was friendly, helpful and informative. All in all, a wonderful experience. If I get the chance to return to Iceland, this is definitely where I will stay.
“Extraordinary hotel, but can be very noisy.”
Hotel Borg is in a great location, with many shops and restaurants very close by. The only problem is that at night it is very noisy because of the bar, and then first thing in the morning there is cleaning which can be very quite loud.
“Big thank you to the staff”
Special thank you, especially to Eva. Staff was very helpful, location aa central aa you can get. Room was a single so small but very comfortable. I would stay again and recommend to other travelers.
“Comfortable hotel, ideal location, great experiences”
Iceland just seems to work. Everywhere we went, the arrangements were impeccable and the locals were really friendly. Indeed, they couldn't do enough to make our short break there enjoyable and comfortable. The scenery was spectacular, the food excellent and we would recommend the Hotel Borg to anyone - a modern, simplified take on Art Deco style; also very conveniently located. This is not a country for travellers wishing to view the world on the cheap but we came away feeling we had had value for money.
“Good spot!”
Nice Hotel and good service... Very good location! Had a feel of a scary movie inside though lol
“Great Hotel”
Would definitely stay here again. My husband and I arrived early in the morning and our room was ready! It was a quick check-in and the room was great. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom was great too with the rain shower. Definitely better than I expected. The only complaint is how expensive the breakfast was. 25 euro per person was pretty steep and as we were up early for tours there were no other places open to get coffee and something quick to eat so we were forced to eat breakfast at the hotel. I was a little skeptical when booking the hotel since many reviewers complained about the noise at night and I am a pretty light sleeper. There was some noise but not enough to keep me up at night or wake me up. I would love to visit Iceland again and I would choose Hotel Borg again!
