Short Break to Reykjavik

Posted 20-Oct-2014
Pros: Friendly staff, relaxed and boutique style atmosphere and very very clean and tidy, great value.
Cons: Very minor point but could have more of a bar area as you do feel a little on top of the diners but im being picky!
Location: Fantastic location right in the heart of the tourist area with all tours either collecting you or within a short walk.
Great hotel in perfect location for all tours, sightseeing etc. I agree with many others that it can get a little noisy on a weekend but unless you are a very light sleeper don't let that bother you. Staff are very friendly and happy to help with booking tours, restaurants though eating at the hotel was very nice so worth a try. We upgraded to a junior suite which wasn't much more than the standard room and from what I picked up from other guests we did the right thing as our room was quite spacious and it was nice to have a leather corner sofa to chill out on instead of just the bed. Iceland is a stunning place and this hotel is tucked away nicely so as a base to do the tours we booked which was the northern lights by boat ( dress warm! ), a super jeep golden circle day ( awesome, especially glacier part ) and Blue Lagoon en route back to the airport. Don't let the rumour about high prices put you off, if you can stomach London rates then you will be fine and this as with many other hotels / bars, do a happy hour from 5-7pm every day with a beer at about £2.50. If you wanted to avoid the noise issue then book one of the other Centerhotel's in the town which were a little more remote but still within walking distance of the sights. Cant recommend the place or hotel too highly, only had 3 days there which is maybe a little too short but will definitely be back....now go and book up!!!

Great hotel in a good location

Posted 20-Oct-2014
Pros: Location
Cons: lift at the entrance not working and so we had to carry our cases down the steps to reception. Still not working when we left the hotel.
Stayed for 4 nights in a deluxe room, very good hotel, good breakfast. just off the main shopping street and a short walk to the old harbour.

Central city hotel

Posted 15-Oct-2014
Pros: Most things
Good hotel close to all city attractions, hotel and room of good quality, only complaint is that being so central it was noisy outside on Friday and Saturday night until after 3:30 am, I slept through but could bother some.

Nice Hotel

Posted 13-Oct-2014
Pros: Nice and clean with helpful staff.
Cons: Stay out of the spa it cost 25 euros and there was not any facilities just a big hot bath no jets and a steam room, no treatments the hotel did refund
Location: The location was really good near the coach station, bus stop and town centre all the nice restaurants and shops
Really good hotel in the centre of town close to lots of nice restaurants, shops etc., the only downside if I returned to Iceland I would not stay here on both Friday and Saturday night it was very noisy we were unable to sleep due to lots of shouting etc.,which lasted from about midnight till 5am from the road outside but I guess you can expect this from a town centre location would suggest if you stay here you take some sleeping tablets and earplugs then this would not be an issue.

Centrally placed with good food

Posted 08-Oct-2014
Pros: Excursion companies picked up and delivered you to the hotel.
Location: Ideally situated next to the main shopping street and centre of city - but not noisy.
We had an excellent experience in this interesting hotel. The breakfast buffet had everything you would wish for and plenty of it. It made lunch redundant! The room was bright, clean and comfortable. The hotel's situation was ideal for walking to all interesting elements of Reykjavik and the staff were extremely helpful in booking additional trips etc. We had dinner in the hotel on two nights as it was so good.

Excellent hotel in great location

We enjoyed our stay especially the friendly and accommodating staff and services. The rooms are a little small even with an upgrade to a deluxe or junior suite but overall we were very pleased.

Really good hotel in excellent location

Posted 04-Oct-2014
Pros: The location, decor, breakfast, friendly staff
Cons: The bathroom floor (wet room) on the 4th floor doesn't drain very quickly/well, so the bathroom floor remains wet for a very long time.
This hotel was very good and was in the perfect location for us. The location was just off a main road which meant that it was quiet, but it was exceptionally close to restaurants, bars and tour information booths. The decor is great and the rooms were warm. The staff are exceptionally helpful and very friendly. They will help you book tours, make reservations at restaurants and give you local guidance. The only advice I would give is that if you're tall and prone to bumping your head, then I wouldn't recommend a room on the 4th (top) floor. It has lower ceilings by the window and if you get out of bed in a hurry or without thinking, you will hit your head. Breakfast had a fair amount of variety and was always well stocked. Overall, this hotel is great, especially for couples.
