“Great centrally located hotel!”
This is a great hotel which is located pretty much in the centre of Reykjavik. You can walk to the main shopping street and there are lots of nice places to eat literally on your doorstep!...Oh and the tourist info place is next door!! After reading some reviews- I requested one of the newer more modern rooms and was impressed. The Pros: Great comfy bed and nice modern room with big TV. Cleaned to high standard every day. Lovely breakfast buffet. Great location as mentioned. Great reception staff- willing to help with tour booking or restaraunt recommendations etc.. The Cons: had to run shower for 5-10mins until hot water came through. Can get noisy at night- but depends where your room is situated (mine was under the hotel bar/club!). Very hot in hotel room at times- (esp night)- even when you turn radiator off- Would be ok if not ground floor and can open windows. Overall- I would recommend this hotel and would go back and stay there!
“Can't wait to go back”
The location is very good just in the downtown, and there're many shops, restaurants, supermarkets nearby. The employees are really helpful. It's really a good hotel!
“Great Location!”
Great location!! Top restaurants, bars and cafes all right outside the door. Staff was extremely friendly and helpful with recommendations. The rooms were of European standard , small but cozy and most importantly, very clean. I would and have recommend this hotel to others.
“Most central hotel in Reyjkavik”
Courteous and friendly staff, modern and clean hotel, nice icelandic breakfast, comfortable and clean rooms, helpful with info, nice bar, market next door, super close to restaurants and bars, next door to tourist and tour info, I can go on!
“Impressive Hotel”
The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful with arranging transport to the airport. The room was clean and well maintained. The only thing was that it was in the heart of tourist country and around 4 a.m. the noise increased for a little while. Other than that, this was a great hotel!
“Centrally located, all you need!”
We stayed at the CentreHotel Plaza for 5 nights. It met or exceeded our expectations in almost every way. The staff are helpful, friendly and courteous. They offer advice on where and what to see in Reykjavík and the surrounding area. They will also assist in booking tours and excursions for you. The room was quite large (some reviewers have said the rooms are small – maybe we got lucky, but we found it large by European standards.) It was clean and efficient with a mini-bar, complementary wired and wireless Internet and coffee and tea facilities. The bathroom was quite large, but only had a show (no bathtub.) This wasn’t a problem for us, but travelers wishing to soak after a long day might find this disappointing. The breakfast was good with a wide variety of food. It can be crowded during peak times, but not overly so. We will certainly return to this hotel on our next stay in Reykjavík.
“Great for near centre location”
No free parking near the hotel, and parking busy in the day - got a ticket for 15 minutes overstay, so check that time! Parking is free 6pm - 10am though. Hotel was clean, stylish and friendly, so good marks there - the room good too, although it looked out over a back yard - at least a quiet one! Didn't have any problems with noise therefore. Location is good for getting to Reykjavik centre without being right in it. Lift was a bit slow and aggressive, so would have used stairs - but for emergency use only. Minor irritation.
“great central hotel”
hotel was really nice and very central. all staff were helpful and very friendly. .they all spoke perfect english which was helpful as our icelandic is very poor! plenty breakfast available including hot and cold options and early morning breakfast available from 4am onwards. a great choice and would visit again in a heartbeat. thanks.
“ideal hotel”
the hotel is located well with bars shops a very short walk away. staff are friendly and the rooms excellent with all you expect. I liked the lobby and bar area, it looks cool and is relaxing to sit and chill with friends before a night out.
“In love with Iceland”
Iceland is an amazing and unique country. The Plaza is in a perfect location to see the majority of Rekjavik and located right next to the tourist information center. The hotel offered a happy hour between 5 and 7 pm which was brilliant with beer relatively half price! The breakfast was lovely with hot and cold food available. At night we ate at Cafe Paris just down the road which offered some fantastic food in a great atmosphere. Whilst in Iceland we did the usual Golden Circle tour which was beautiful and a great way to see Iceland away from the city. We also went to the Blue Lagoon which was fab and well worth a visit but we much prefered the local swimming pool. Other trips included travelling into the interior to go caving and a visit to a Glacier which, although cold, was so peaceful and beautiful. Horse riding was a lot of fun especially as we rode through the countryside as the sun rose over the picturesque landscape. We spent some time around Rekjavik, visiting the many museums and art galleries which were interesting and unique. We also saw the Northern lights which were beautiful, the only down side was that we saw them with another 100 people whilst on a large coach tour, some of whom decided to take photos with a flash, slightly tainting the experience. if we were to hunt them again we would do it on our own or with a very small tour. Overall an incredibly expensive holiday but absolutely amazing and worth every single penny!
