"Great Hotel in Good Location"
Reading previous reviews I was a little concerned about noise as I'm a light sleeper but had no problems at all. There was some traffic noise but hordes of drunken party goers weren't an issue at all! The room was very clean, the bed was comfy and the staff were excellent. The breakfast buffet, while not cheap, is excellent and if you fill up there a snack for lunch should do. Very good location for easy access to lots of sites and tours. I would definitely stay again.

"Lovely hotel"
We had a week in this hotel in March. All of the staff were welcoming, friendly and keen to assist in every way they could, nothing was too much trouble. Fabulous duvet and pillows. The hotel was large but unusually this time this wasn't a detraction. We ate in the hotel frequently which is very unusual for us but the food was excellent and in terms of value for money we didn't see a better deal in Reykjavik. The bar was lovely. The buffet in the "Skrodur" was excellent value homemade soup, salad and fish/meat, dessert (all as much as you want) for approximately £20/head. It would be nice if there was a little more variety there ie if the bar meals were avaialble in the restaurant or if the slad buffet varied night on night. We didn't venture upstairs to the fine dining as we were not on that type of holiday. The breakfast buffet was excellent. If you want it - it was available. The hotel is a short walk out of the city centre, in the University area and right next to the National Museum (itself definitely worth a visit), within 5 mins you are next to the City Pond. Walk 5 mins in the opposite direction through a nice residential area and you are at the Beach and can walk around the headland entering the City via the Old Harbour.
