"Great hotel only a short walk from heart of city"
Fantastic stay at this hotel, the staff were so friendly and helpful, nothing too much for them. Rooms were cosy and spotless and bed very very comfy, we had a small patio where we had fun building a snowman. Excellent location, 5 mins walk from restaurants and shops. Would definitely stay here again without hesitation. Excellent trip.

Modern hotel in a quiet, city-centre district, located 400 metres from Laekjartorg Square, and off Laugavegur, the main …More
Loved Apartment K. King studio room was great, the TempurPedic bed was so comfy after a long days exploring. Having the kitchen and washer/dryer was so convenient. People are complaining about the glass door for the bathroom. You couldn't see the shower or the toilet, so for couples, it's fine. If you're traveling with someone you're less intimate with, contact the hotel, as the staff is very helpful and accommodating, and will put you in a suitable room.
The location can't be beat. You're in the heart of the shopping district, and just a couple of blocks away from the waterfront. Everything you need is at the doorstep. There's lots of available street parking on Thingholtstraeti, and surrounding streets, which is free after 6, should you have a rental vehicle.
Only complaint, the wifi is not good in the room we were in. To do anything, we did have to go to the lobby. We weren't there to surf the web though, so it wasn't a huge issue for us. We were only checking the weather, etc.
I would definitely stay here again if I come back to Iceland.
Great base to explore Reykjavik and the surrounding area. Bus pass makes it very simple to get into the centre of town and back again and allows you to have a drink or too without any worry about drinking and driving.
Hotel itself is modern and very well appointed. We had one of the executive rooms which gave us use of the Executive lounge. Breakfast within the lounge was excellent and there was a good range of food and always places to sit. Same during 5-7 happy hour when very good quality canapés were also served.
Tea coffee and cakes available at other times/
We have been to Iceland 6 times this year staying in a variety of Hotels and Apartments and this is by far the best. We are already planning return trips
We had a week in this hotel in March.
All of the staff were welcoming, friendly and keen to assist in every way they could, nothing was too much trouble.
Fabulous duvet and pillows.
The hotel was large but unusually this time this wasn't a detraction.
We ate in the hotel frequently which is very unusual for us but the food was excellent and in terms of value for money we didn't see a better deal in Reykjavik. The bar was lovely. The buffet in the "Skrodur" was excellent value homemade soup, salad and fish/meat, dessert (all as much as you want) for approximately £20/head. It would be nice if there was a little more variety there ie if the bar meals were avaialble in the restaurant or if the slad buffet varied night on night. We didn't venture upstairs to the fine dining as we were not on that type of holiday.
The breakfast buffet was excellent. If you want it - it was available.
The hotel is a short walk out of the city centre, in the University area and right next to the National Museum (itself definitely worth a visit), within 5 mins you are next to the City Pond. Walk 5 mins in the opposite direction through a nice residential area and you are at the Beach and can walk around the headland entering the City via the Old Harbour.
