the staff were fully accomodating to all our needs, booked taxis, car rental, advised on other travel within Crete and places to eat etc, they also upgraded us to a superior room and generally took good care of us. The hotel itself is stunning, everything you would expect from a historic hotel experience but with no tackiness and plenty of class, nestled in the tiny cobbled pedestrianised streets of rethymno old town, in all, a wonderful and quite romantic retreat
Backpacking, we opted for this place because of the kitchenette and cheap rate. We were more than pleased, the people at the front desk were super friendly and spoke english quite well. Although this isn't a requirement for us it was a nice change to not have to use hand signals and whatnot to check in or ask questions. The room was very spacious, it had a coffee maker, fridge and two burners with pots/cutlery/etc. First bathtub we have seen here in greece so no water on the floor after showering! Since it is the low season we're pretty sure they gave us the best room, top floor on the corner had an upper loft and big balcony. Seemed like they genuinely wanted us to have a nice stay, which we did. Lots of places to eat and grocery stores around, can see the water from the location. I would recommend any of my friends or family to stay here.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this hotel. The staff were welcoming and friendly. The plunge pool area where we took our breakfast was like a little oasis. Breakfasts were varied and generous and the extended time slot for breakfast was appreciated. The location of this hotel was perfect, right in the pedestrianised streets of the old town but it wassn't at all noisy. There were numerous dining opportunities within a very short walk of the hotel and within five minutes walk a supermarket. It took approx seven or eight minutes to walk to the harbour, fortress and seafront.
We had a car for the ten days of our stay and found plenty of free places to park. Our room at the hotel was a standard room but was spacious, there was a small kitchen area with a fridge which was useful.
I would recommend this hotel for comfort, location and staff.
We arrived at Achillion and had a lovely greeting at reception. The room was clean and the beds were very comfy. Achillion is only 2 mins walk to the beach and to town so a great location. We had a front room which looked out onto the road, it was quite noisy at night. I think the rooms at the back of the hotel would have been much quieter. There is a nice roof top pool with a great view. There wasn't much entertainment or atmosphere for a younger group but we liked it. The staff were friendly and we would definitely stay there again.

We enjoyed our stay, our room was modern and the main bed very comfortable however the third bed that doubles as a sofa was hard and not comfortable at all. For the majority of our stay our room was not cleaned until late in the day, this was not an issue for us but may be for other guests. We had a top floor apartment and this caused an issue with hot water at peak times. I would recommend a lower apartment as I believe the hot water pressure priorities from the ground floor up. Restaurant food was very god and we ate in the restaurant on a number of occasions. Breakfast was a simple but good traditional continental buffet choice with one hot selection that is served. The staff are all very pleasant and helpful speaking very good English. I would recommend the Palm Beach and should I return to this resort I would be happy to stay again.
This is one of the most memorable hotels I have ever stayed in. We had a bit of confusion finding the reception due the maze of narrow streets, but were eventually greeted warmly and courteously by the duty manager. Then we were led to the beautiful courtyard for a complimentary 'welcome' drink. Our first impression was very good and we were made to feel very special by staff who obviously cared about making sure we were relaxed and at ease. Our room was exactly as we imagined from the photos - very unique, spacious and comfortable. The only issue with the Green Room is that it does not have a proper window (only a small one looking into the courtyard which you have to crouch down to see out of), but this is due to the design of the building. Breakfast was of the 'a la carte' variety, and one of the best things about this hotel. It includes traditional things like omlettes, bacon, yogurts, fruits etc but also local breakfast dishes. Everything is freshly made to order, and with the Avli being one of the most highly rated restaurants in Rethymno, it is of a very good quality. Be prepared to spend up to an hour enjoying the substantial breakfast - it will set you up for the day! The location is just about as good as you can get. You are literally yards from the historic centre of Rethymno (Rimondi Fountain) and 2 minutes walk from the harbour. The is a supermarket around the corner as well. Our whole experience was fantastic and we would highly recommend the Avli Lounge.
