“Great Hot Breakfast”

Clean Room, nice ammenities, overall very satisfied. The hot breakfast is very nice! Bed was o.k. - could be a little more comfortable. This was our second time in two months we stayed here - have been happy with our rooms and service both times.....a plus for us, they are "pet friendly" also.

I was a weary Thanksgiving day traveler and just needed a place to crash for the night. The room was fine with me nothing out of the ordinary and they allowed pets. The extremely awesome item that goes the extra mile for me was that they provided a full Thanksgiving meal with all the trimmings...Turkey, ham, greenbean casserole, sweet potato pie, scalloped potatoes, cranberries, muffins, pumpkin pie. Awesome and appreciated!

“Nice, recently remodeled hotel”

I have stayed at the Hawthorn Suites in Reno a few times now, and don't understand why some have given this hotel a poor rating. The only thing I can figure is they stayed there before the remodel! The people at the reception desk are friendly and helpful. We usually stay in the room with the kitchenette and two queen beds. The room looks just like the pictures shown on the website. The room was clean and everything was in good working order. The beds are comfortable and seem new. They are soft enough to prevent "pressure point" pain, yet supportive. The large tv is a nice bonus. I can watch tv in bed without wearing glasses! The sink is separate from the tub/shower and toilet, so someone can be using the sink at the same time as another is showering. The tub/toilet area is a little small, but not a deal-breaker. Nice Shower Massage shower head! The room heater/air conditioner is relatively quiet and gets the room comfortable in short time. The rooms must be well-insulated, as I turned the heater off when I went to bed & it stayed warm, even as the temp outside dropped into the high 20's F.. The continental breakfast was good; a nice variety of things to choose from. There is an on-site workout room for those diligent enough to use it. I use the wi-fi connection in the room and it works fine. All-in-all, this is as nice a hotel as others I checked that were going for twice the price!!!

“Great room for the price”

Our first room was small and bed hard, we requested another room with 2 beds, we had to pay a little more, but was worth it, the gut at front desk was very accommodating. Breakfast was good also.

“Scary Neighborhood”

The hotel was off the strip in a scary neighborhood, wouldn't want to walk around. The pool was an outdoor heated pool but it was closed for the season (why?) and appeared to be shared with the next hotel. It was probably 15'x30' with not much patio. The exercise room was nothing to write home about, just had 2 treadmills and 2 elliptical machines. Breakfast was adequate, but the eggs were reconstituted and didn't taste normal. If you're just looking for a room and a bagel/muffin for breakfast then the place is fine. I was looking to spend some time relaxing in the pool. I only chose this hotel because Expedia had it rated 4 stars, not sure how what happened.

“great place for the business traveler”

I spend every Thursday night in Reno as a business traveler, and I am not a gambler, so have little need for the amenities at a casino. However, I do like to have a coffee maker, fridge and (if possible), a microwave in my room, all of which the Hawthorn provides. Throw in great room rates and a very satisfactory complimentary breakfast--and I think it is the best deal in town.
