“Samir z”

Amazing hotel. Close to everything you need. Close to the train/bus port. Amazing service. Well worth the price. Go to Aladdin down the street. By far the best meal I've ever had.

Area recommendations
City centre. Or area surrounding tourist office.
Dining
Nearly everything is shut on Sunday. So go to a place called chez moi. Great pizzas. Indian food is also across the road.

This Hotel is in a very good location for shops, bars, restaurants, rail, metro and bus links. All being just a couple of minutes walk. Also has private indoor Car Park. Will definitely return.

“Weak air con, fantastic location”

A perfectly acceptable hotel - nice, clean, good shower, comfy bed, proper pillows etc - the only downside was the weak air con which barely cooled the room whatsoever. Location is great - on the same block as some good local pubs, bars and restaurants and easy walking into the centre of Rennes. Because of the pubs, we didn't want the window open, but we had to as the air con was weak, so try to book a room that doesn't face onto the street

“Good option in prettiest part of Rennes”

I enjoyed staying here. The hotel is well-located in the prettiest part of Rennes. I also thought my room was quite spacious, at least by European standards. I'd have liked a free public use Internet terminal available to guests, but there was an Internet cafe down the street, so it was no big deal. The clerk at the front desk was gracious enough to humor my speaking to him in (bad) French. Uplifting to have a conversation French!

Area recommendations
The prettiest part of Rennes is immediately to the northwest of the hotel (moving away from the sketchy area near the train station). Rennes has a lovely central quarter with a much less lovely, newer 1960sish area surrounding the city.
Dining
I very much enjoyed "kebab frites" at a hole-in-the-wall restaurant steps from the hotel. It's basically a gyro sandwich with French fries on top of it. Not health food, certainly, but a lot better than eating at McDonald's. Local color at an affordable price!

“A beautiful stay in Rennes”

If you are traveling to Rennes, France this hotel is a great location and a well appointed choice. The privilege room was large, included a sofa bed that was comfy as a sofa, and the wet bar was a nice added "freebie" for non-alcoholic beverages. The staff was very friendly, made the effort to help us with their knowledge of the town, parking, and spoke some English. We enjoyed having access to the parking garage for our car, and the access to the center of the city and the metro was very convenient. I would certainly say the web site of the hotel and the overall service of the hotel were right on point. From check-in to check-out we felt we could count on the staff and that our room was a true home base. I would recommend this hotel and the experience to anyone looking to visit Rennes.

Area recommendations
The center of Rennes has many excellent restaurants, old buildings, and in the spring and summer the fountains and the parks are said to be colorful and relaxing. The weekend market in the "old" section is lovely and filled with so many wonderful things to see and taste.
When to go
To visit Rennes is to go back in time amidst the hub bub of French modern life. It is best seen, we learned, in Spring. Going a little bit before season affords more options at dining locations, the Musee des Beaux Arts is not too busy, and there are still the open air markets and cafes to enjoy in the early spring sun.

“Fabulous situation”

I booked into this Mercure because of it's central position but it was far bwtter than expected. We turned left out of the hotel entrance and found ourselves in a really buzzy area full of bars, cafes & restaurants. it was brilliant, we loved it.

“Lost in Rennes”

Get a map of the location of this hotel before going. Directions get lost in translation. We spent an hour after arriving trying to find the hotel. The hotel was in a good location. Hotel staff was pleasant. It was a clean hotel and breakfast was excellent. I would not mind staying there again. Rennes was a fun town. We happened to be there on summer solstice eve and the town was all out in old town. Bands were on every corner. It was an evening we shall always remember.

Area recommendations
Old town. The architecture of the old town is medieval, quaint and beautiful. We just do not build such beautiful structures anymore.
When to go
Spending June 21st , the summer solstice ,in Rennes was a fantastic experience. There was a music festival celebrating the solstice. Different kinds of bands were on many street corners. There were diverse bands. Some bands playing salsa music, others African, 70s songs, rap, techno. etc. There was entertainment for any age group. It was great fun to sit out in the outdoor cafes and feel apart of the community. It was daylight forever on the longest day of the year. What fun! I certainly recommend Rennes on summer solstice eve, this city knows how to have fun.

“Good central hotel”

A good central hotel in easy walking distance of the main attractions in Rennes. Close to the rail and bus stations and the No 57 bus to the airport. Pleasant, helpful staff and great breakfasts. Recommend to anyone and would go back.

“Very expensive hotel”

Hotel is good but very expensive. They add up everything at the end. They don't mention about extra prices for example for car park. Rennes is not worth that kind of money. The town was dirty and very empty. It was summer and number of tourists was very limited. Prices in bars and restaurants are like in Paris. Nothing really interesting in the town.

Traveller's tip
Countryside is much better in France than towns. Don't stay in town centres because hotels are very expensive
