Hotel stay July 19, 2014

Posted 21-Jul-2014
Pros: Clean, comfortable
Cons: Give us the Queen bed we requested
The staff was great in processing my check-in. We requested a room with a Queen sized bed. Initially it was supposed to be just me, but when my wife and son wanted to come with me for this trip, Super 8 was very accommodating with the switch, and had a roll-away ready to go for us. The Queen sized bed seemed more like a double bed in size though. That would be the only problem I would need to report. Everything else was fine. We were in room #251.

Booked this hotel based on price and reviews. I don't do a lot of traveling. Needed a place to stay on our way home crom a family trip. It was a bed to sleep in and a shower in the morning. Beds were worn down (My husband and I rolled to the middle), the shower head of meant for no one taller than 5'4. The air conditioning was loud and only one channel worked on the t.v.. But, like I said, it wss a place to sleep and shower in the morning. Not much else.

Easy freeway access. Very clean, quiet room. The pool and amenities were excellent. The breakfast was superb. I will be staying here every time I travel the coastal route north from San Diego.

Cons: In the summer, air conditioning needs to be working!
When we arrived in Redding after a week in cooler Washington and Oregon, we were hot and tired (man, Redding is HOT). When we got up to our room, it was about 95 degrees in the room, so we quickly flipped on the air conditioner, which didn't work. While I was waiting for my spouse to get back from the front desk to request a new room, I noticed a note on the door (on the back of the hotel price sheet) from a woman thanking someone for a good time and leaving her phone number so they could meet up again. EWW. They moved us to the room next door but the keys given did not work, so the desk clerk had to be consulted once again and he had to come re-set the keys, which he did. A lot of time and energy to get into the room!

The Front desk person was awesome very nice, the Ice Machine in the Lobby was LOUD,-- the room was clean and more or less comfortable, the TV was old but the picture was good. The A/C in the room worked but was VERY Loud thank goodness not as loud as the ice machine, I would stay there again, since it is in a great location (between Portland and SF area)

Decent stay, it's MOTEL 8!

Pros: Good location in Redding.
It would have been nice if the wifi is working in our room. It's not smoking room but the room smells like cigarette but the room is clean, the bed is comfortable and the room is quiet.

A weird room layout

Posted 19-Jun-2014 on Hotels.com
The room that I was given at the Super 8 was on the second floor and at one end of the building. The odd thing about the room was that it had the sink in the main room area, next to the entry door to the room. Also, the only table in the room was placed next to the TV and had a microwave sitting on it. Therefore there was nowhere for the occupants to sit at a table to write, operate a computer, eat a snack, or to watch TV. You had to do all of those things on the bed. Also, the rug was definitely in need of replacement. However, the location of the hotel was very easy to find as it was located right at a major freeway on/off ramp and there were all sorts of business located along the street where the motel was located. The free morning breakfast was OK, but it would have been nice if some fruit and bagels were provided
