Hotel stay July 19, 2014

Posted 21-Jul-2014
Pros: Clean, comfortable
Cons: Give us the Queen bed we requested
The staff was great in processing my check-in. We requested a room with a Queen sized bed. Initially it was supposed to be just me, but when my wife and son wanted to come with me for this trip, Super 8 was very accommodating with the switch, and had a roll-away ready to go for us. The Queen sized bed seemed more like a double bed in size though. That would be the only problem I would need to report. Everything else was fine. We were in room #251.

We needed a one night stop on our road trip and this hotel was affordable and decent. There were some rips in the carpet. But i felt like i got what i paid for.

Cons: In the summer, air conditioning needs to be working!
When we arrived in Redding after a week in cooler Washington and Oregon, we were hot and tired (man, Redding is HOT). When we got up to our room, it was about 95 degrees in the room, so we quickly flipped on the air conditioner, which didn't work. While I was waiting for my spouse to get back from the front desk to request a new room, I noticed a note on the door (on the back of the hotel price sheet) from a woman thanking someone for a good time and leaving her phone number so they could meet up again. EWW. They moved us to the room next door but the keys given did not work, so the desk clerk had to be consulted once again and he had to come re-set the keys, which he did. A lot of time and energy to get into the room!

Decent stay, it's MOTEL 8!

Pros: Good location in Redding.
It would have been nice if the wifi is working in our room. It's not smoking room but the room smells like cigarette but the room is clean, the bed is comfortable and the room is quiet.

A weird room layout

Posted 19-Jun-2014 on Hotels.com
The room that I was given at the Super 8 was on the second floor and at one end of the building. The odd thing about the room was that it had the sink in the main room area, next to the entry door to the room. Also, the only table in the room was placed next to the TV and had a microwave sitting on it. Therefore there was nowhere for the occupants to sit at a table to write, operate a computer, eat a snack, or to watch TV. You had to do all of those things on the bed. Also, the rug was definitely in need of replacement. However, the location of the hotel was very easy to find as it was located right at a major freeway on/off ramp and there were all sorts of business located along the street where the motel was located. The free morning breakfast was OK, but it would have been nice if some fruit and bagels were provided

Dirty

Room was labeled at non-smoking and still stunk like smoke. Carpet had lumps and white ash in the corners. Mattress stained, shower tub was clogged and bathroom smelled like hair spray. Don't think they clean the room? Hope the sheets were clean. Ps... TV remote was not programmed to TV.

Just a fair place

Stayed there for two nights while visiting Lake Shasta and Redding. The fridge didn't work and the breakfast wasn't enough to feed all the guests in the morning while we were there.

Reserved 5/17 on the 8th for an overnight but the exam was cancelled so called on 5/11 and we tried moving it back a night to 5/18 and got guff from site but finally got it done, albeit at 11 dollars more than I was told. Arrive and site has no record of our stay. It takes an hour to check in because guy is not paying attention and keeps trying to do other things. He tells a customer that policy is pets are 50 dollars per pet, when I was told earlier in the week that there are two pet friendly rooms that are only an extra 25 dollars total. He gives me a phone because he doesn’t want to deal with automated system. Then he gives us key to wrong room (which is occupied) causing my wife to walk in on someone. Our room had floss on the floor and was missing the alarm clock (which I have to tell them so I don’t get charged). Next morning the only response to issues by front desk was “that’s third party problems”. Site was run down (Pepsi machine out of order, hot tub room had no light, sauna was broken, light for hall was out) and the breakfast was a single waffle maker and pre-packaged pastry with a juice machine.
