“Great Staff.”

“Too bad I only had one night there.”

Hotel staff was courteous and helpful. Free computer access in business center. Location was easy to find, close to major freeways/highways and only a few minutes from the Redding Airport and Turtle Bay Exploration Park (a great place to visit for several hours!). Room was comfortable, spacious, clean, and well-lit. Property was well-maintained. Pool area was nice. Lots of restaurants and well-known stores nearby. Hotel restaurant & menu were adequate and servers were attentive and friendly. I went to a wedding near Mt. Shasta and the drive from the hotel was less than an hour. The drive on I-5 North was spectacular with trees and the lake on both sides. I want to go back with my family and spend more time in Redding and the surrounding areas.

Family-friendly activities

Turtle Bay Exploration Park, Sundial Bridge, and McConnell Arboretum and Botanical Gardens. Lots of things to do and see for the whole family. The museum was interesting, educational, and interactive with lots of staff and activities going on for kids. The Sundial Bridge is amazing--I recommend seeing the 30 min. movie about the making of it. You can see the movie on request at the Visitor Center. It might be a little long and not so interesting for children, but I enjoyed it knowing more about the architect/engineer, how the idea was conceived, how it was built, and the controversy in the community about its presence. The McConnell Arboretum and Botanical Gardens was really beautiful with many displays of flowers, plants, and various types of gardens. Be sure to bring water, sunblock, and hats. You can buy Italian ice upon entering the gardens. It was very refreshing and money well spent. The children's area with the whimsical sculptures and mosaics is the best part. The cafe back at the museum had a good menu for the whole family and the food was good.

“We were treated like Crap.”

When we checked in we told the desK clerk we wanted to see the room before we reserve the rooM for a second night. We were told no problem just let her know by 11am the next day. After dinner the first night we called for a wake up call plus to let her know we wOuld being staying another night. The desk clerk told me sorry she couldn't help us and that we would have to contact Expedia. when I ask if she could verify we could get a room she said No she could not and would not. But if I paid walk in rates she could let us stay. When I reminded her of what she said when we checked in, she acted like she didn't stay we could have a room if we let her know by 11am. I stay in nice hotels for quality rooms and service, not attitude and lies.

“Redding Wedding”

The hotel was as nice as could be expected for the price. Room was clean, front desk was nice, check in/out was easy. It looks like the hotel was renovating the courtyard and ran our of money. The pool looked nice but was on the shady side of the building. The bar was empty but I dont think there were more than 20 people staying in the hotel that weekend.

“Nice place to stay, Central to attractions”

Great service at checkin. Rooms were nice and clean and seem to have been updated recently (this is in Aug 2010). The front desk staff was friendly and gave us a great overview of places to visit. Lots of restaurants nearby. And for us this place was central to nearby attractions (Turtle Bay, Lassen, Shasta Lake).

“Consistant High Quality”

Holiday Inn Express is consistantly high in quality. You always know what to expect from each location - Redding is no different. The rooms are nicely appointed and the staff is friendly and helpful.

“Good for a quick overnight”

Only stayed one night. Very clean room, good service. Love the shampoo! Asked for additional sheet and received heavy polyester instead of light cotton. Redding is over 100 degrees in the summer - poly is way too hot! Air conditioner worked well but was set to go on and off as needed, not just have air run, so it was a bit noisy. Bed was okay - we are used to latex bed so anything with springs is uncomfortable to use. Daughter was excited about the pool and glad it was open until 10pm - very nice! We would definitely stay again.

“Dont go for the pool!”

If you want to get to the pool, you have to go right through the lobby with other guest checking in, and checking you out in your swim wear. If you would like a towel you have to as well, go up to the checkin desk and ask for one. I needed 4 and they only had 3. Thier response "Im sorry I only have 3 this time, try back in a few minutes". Also thier is a big empty dirt spot right in the middle of the hotel. My husband thinks they might be putting in a new pool but currently doesnt seem to be working on it.
