“Would stay there again.”
Whist this was an older hotel and does require some renovations to the rooms in particular, our stay there was really enjoyable. They allow pets in the hotel and our room had dog hairs on the furniture and smelled of dog! Hotel was quiet, but we did get disturbed on some nights by the trains going through in the very early hours of the morning and sounding their horns repeatedly! Ear plugs fixed that problem! We mostly had good experiences with dining in the hotel restaurant, but this did depend on the staff on duty at the time. One young waitress named Hannah was amazing and could not do enough to assist us. But overall, for the price it was very good and we would definitely stay there again. It was quite close to everything that we wanted and was withing easy travelling distance of things like the Bear Park, Sitting Bull's Crystal Caves, Mount Rushmore, Crazy Horse Memorial, Deadwood. There are so many interesting things to see there, did I mention the Journey Museum? Well worth a look. There is also a Dinosaur Park for travellers with children. In town there are a few nice restaurants, so dining out was not a problem. Town is a 10 - 15 minute walk and has lots of souvenir shops too. We hired a vehicle and there is plenty of on site parking which is free. Such a pretty place and so full of history, just wonderful, we really enjoyed our stay in Rapid City.
“Good Hotel”
I stayed at this hotel during my final night of a 3-night vacation exploring the Black Hills. I had spent the previous 2 nights in Hot Springs, but wanted a head start driving back east on I-90, so decided to stay in Rapid City the final night. This is a nice hotel. I was stayed in early Sept, so it wasn't as crowded as it may be in the summertime. There is a bar and wine shop in the lobby. 2 glass elevators with a waterfall that pours down 6 floors. The rooms were clean and the pool was decent. It was a typical Holiday Inn, I think. It's nice, but you can certainly find a cheaper room elsewhere that is just as nice. There are no 'inclusive freebies' here. If you want breakfast, you have to pay for it. We didn't want to eat breakfast at the hotel, so we checked out and found breakfast at a nice bagel shop/cafe, called Black Hills Bagels, which I thought was excellent.
“Worth The Stay”
The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. The rooms were as described and well kept. I would recommend this hotel if looking to stay in Rapid City. You will not be disappointed!!!!!
“Nice Hotel”
Hotel was convenient to restuarants. A bit away from main attractions but not too bad.
“Nice”
It was good! I would recommend not eating at the restaurant. The service is horrible!!! We waited over an hour, and didn't even get an apology.
“great location !”
i was impressed how helpfull the staff was they were able to recommend a great place to have dinner to giving us precise directions to all the places we plannned on going to and they seemed very happy to help us no matter the time.... This is the 4th time to Rapid city and i liked being more central in town and was easy to access all the main streets ...it was nice not having to hear any highway noise or fighting the traffic to get to our hotel ... my only complaint was an odd odor ..not sure if it was a cleaning agent but it was tolerable...
“Well Rounded”
We stayed at the Hotel for three nights (two adults & child). It was a great location as we were visiting the Badlands, Mt. Rushmore, Custer State Park and Spearfish. There is "no free" breakfast like at the Holiday Inn Express, however, the Hotel does have a full service restaurant that also offers a breakfast buffet. The made to order omelets and waffles were great. Like most buffets, some of the food wasn't hot enough. We also ate dinner there our first night. We were exhausted by the end of our long days so it was nice to have some place to eat other than fast food really quick. The customer service of the staff was about average (nothing extra offered). At least one of the two hot tubs was not working correctly our entire stay. The "indoor" pool water was also very chilly. My only real complaint that would keep us from using this hotel in the future was the "shower water pressure". There was no way to adjust it down and it nearly took your skin off. Seriously, it felt like you were at the car wash. I've never felt anything like it and don't care to again. Our room was clean, however, the fake flowers in the atrium were in sad shape (dirty and faded).
“Nice place for the money”
My only complaint would be about the in hotel resturant service. We tried to have the breakfast buffet, but were not told that it didn't start until 9:30 AM. As a result, we had breakfast off the menu, which proved rather expensive, relative to the cost of the room. Good location, but eat somewhere else.
“Rapid City top pick!”
We walked in to an unassuming exterior that hid a open air restaurant, atrium with waterfall, and glass elevators with view of atrium. So unexpected! Room on 8th floor offered view of city and mountains. Most spectacular view was from the vending area on our floor, night view of city lights was gorgeous. We had dinner at the hotels restaurant. Excellent lemon trout with asparagus, companion had the grilled chicken & apple salad with cider vinegarette. Restaurant holds a Friday dinner buffet of prime rib & crablegs. Also has a comfortable bar area, gift shop, and a closed off swimming pool area (so no yells echoing from swimmers). Located right behind the city convention center and 2 blocks from main street with the statues of the presidents. 30 minutes from Rushmore. I highly recommend this hotel!
“Stay for Rush Game!”
Awsome place to stay in convinent local to the Rush game. Made for a stress free stay!
