“Good Value in Rapid City”

This hotel is very conveniently located - less than a quarter mile from Exit 59 on Interstate 90. There are a number of restaurants within a half mile, including TGI Friday's. Bostons, Outback Steak House, Denny's, and Burger King, and many more just a little further away. The pool is nice and has a slide, the staff has a warm and welcoming attitude, and the free breakfast is quite acceptable.

“Great Value!”

The front desk staff treated us very well even when there was a mix up with the reservation. Breakfast was awesome as well as free coffee and cookies throughout the day. It was no problem to leave our vehicle at the hotel while we flew to Mexico. Free shuttle service to and from the airport was also provided. We really can't say enough about how well we were treated!

Area recommendations

Great mall within walking distance of the hotel. We toured Mount Rushmore, Crazy Horse, Keystone, Deadwood and Custer State Park.

“Usually stay at Grand Gateway.”

Stayed at Country Inn for the waterslide for my 4 and 6 year old daughters. Waterslide was shut down. Hot tub was dirty/discusting. Will definately never stay there again.

“Cozy, great location”

Was pleased with my stay. Easy check in. Staff friendly. Free breakfast a plus-great variety!

“Decent room with a few problems”

The room was large as it shold have been because it was a full handicap room.Everything was nice "Except" that one of the ac/heater units was missing the controls and didn't work. Later in the evening the wind was howling outside and unfortenately it was also howling thru the broken ac unit to the point that the drapes were blowing a couple of feet from the window.Management did manage to get maintance to block the wind for the night but removed the cardboard the next day. After spending seven days in the room nothing was done to repair the broken ac unit. Other then that problem it was a nice place to stay. Also got a great rate from Expedia for the seven days. Oh becareful when maining reservations because if you have to cancel they will not refund your money.

“Perfectly adequate”

The room was fine overall - nothing special, but the comforter on the bed was warm and comfortable. The carpets were filthy, particularly in the hallways and stairways. There were awful stains all over them - I hate to think of what the stains were. Ick.

“Great value and hospitality”

Stayed one night at the Alex Johnson in Rapid City and two nights at the Country Inn and Suites. Not even close in comparison; the Country Inn and Suites showed that they deserved my business and the Alex Johnson showed they deserve a complete restructuring of their management. From the moment we walked in the door at Country Inn and Suites we were treated, at a minimum, at least twice as good as Alex Johnson hotel downtown. I believe management is key and Country Inn and Sites exceeded my expectations. No Contest! Parking was more reasonable, hospitality was better, cleanliness was far more superior, and quality of service dominance belongs to Country Inn and Suites in this challenge for my vacation weekend.
