“Great location -- -just not super clean...”
Hotel is within 200 yards of the crabtree valley mall on glenwood ave. There is only one hotel, la quinta I believe, that may be closer (behind the mall). The staff were friendly, but it seemed as if they operate with a very MINIMAL staff. This hotel seems to be used VERY FREQUENTLY for LARGE PARTIES/WEDDINGS, so there are always a lot of people wondering around the main lobby area. Our room was the handicap accessible room on the 6th floor. We found the room and bed to be clean and tidy, however the shower was grotesque with visible mold in the tile and caulking. We stayed at the Renaissance at North Hills last month and it was DEFINITELY worth the extra money compared to this place.
“Good, solid choice”
Really enjoyed the breakfast option that was only available with Expedia which allowed for breakfast credit of $30 per day per couple to be used through room service! Typical Mariott. Nice and comfortable but a tad dated in architechture and exteriorior finishes. Service was good but not excellent at the desk and in the restaurant. Location central to about three malls, one very nice one across the street. It was a nice place for a weekend getaway with my wife.
“Not as nice as it used to be”
I have stayed in this hotel several times, but it has been awhile. The hotel is fine, but it seems more on par with a Courtyard rather than a Marriott. Our room smelled musty, like it had flooded at some point. The furnishings and lobby were fine, but they were not as nice as you would typically expect at a Marriott. On the positive side, the breakfast buffet was excellent, and I would highly recommend upgrading to the bed and breakfast package if available. The hotel is in an excellent location, across the street from Crabtree Valley Mall and an easy drive downtown, to NC State and to the NC State Fairgrounds. Also, the service was very good. In summary, I would say that the hotel just doesn't feel as nice as it used to; the clientele has changed; and it needs a bit of a remodel. I would save a few bucks and reserve a room at a cheaper hotel based on the quality of this Marriott.
“great place for wedding reception”
service and food was wonderful
“Quick weekend wedding for relatives.”
If you want a well planned out wedding reception for out of town guest. I was very impressed how well it was decorated, staff was very friendly, and how they had the buffet set up for the guest for the wedding. Very comfortable bed's, nice pool, and decent gym.
“Repeat Customer”
I've stayed here before and I'll come back. Everything has a comfortable feel to it.
“No so much”
I was attending a workshop with several co-workers. I'm from the West Coast and love coming to NC as it is a pleasure to experience southern courtesies and hospitality. Unfortunately, I did not have this experience at the Marriott. It felt as though I were still in California, and I was an interruption to the employees’ day. I stayed for the two days I could not cancel, and I then moved to the Embassy Suites next door. They were not only friendlier, but breakfast and “happy hour” were included in the room price. I will not stay here again nor recommend to colleagues. This is unfortunate as we visit this area on a frequent basis.
“My only concern”
This hotel was fine in all regards save one minor matter that left me feeling slightly unwelcome. I turned to an in-room travel magazine to look for local dining recommendations and found an editorial piece that was not just in opposition to my own political views but openly offensive in its remarks about the President of the U.S. Looking further, I saw that the author of the piece is a candidate for office in North Carolina who also had purchased ad space in the same magazine, which seems like a conflict of interest. I understand that Marriott is not the publisher of this magazine but I am surprised that they would provide such blatantly vitriolic material in the guise of a "service" to their guests.
“AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!”
Perfect
“Crabtree Valley Hotel and the State Fair”
My wife and I stayed at the marriot while visiting the State Fair. We had our two grand sons with us and they really enjoyed the indoor pool at the hotel. The service at the hotel was great and the hotel staff was outstanding. The staff really makes you feel at home. The location was great. The mall was across the street and contained fastfood and restaraunts. We had a great time. (The fair was good too.)
