“Great first and lasting impression”

This was our first visit to Durham and we had the best time! My husband was in town for an interview and forgot his tie. The fabulous front desk staff printed out directions to the nearest shopping center so that we could get him a replacement. We will absolutely be recommending DoubleTree to anyone and everyone!

Backyard BBQ was amazing! My husband claims it was the best catfish ever.

“:)”

I really liked this Hotel. The staff was friendly, the rooms were comfortable, the hotel was beautiful, the kids enjoyed the Indoor and outdoor pool. I loved the surrounding area. The lake is beautiful. I would definately stay here again.... and yes, the cookies that you get when you check-in are addictive :)

Area recommendations

For the active Family, I would recomend the beautiful walk way around the Lake, the cascade, the tennis court and volleyball court. For the laid back family, the hotel has a library with interesting books.

The restaurant does not have much variety at the hotel but the breakfast is ok.

“Could use some updating”

The Doubletree in Durham had great service and the staff was all very helpful. I do think they could use some updating though.

Area recommendations

The nearby mall was great! There was a huge variety of stores and great restaurants. The Rockfish Seafood Grill was awesome!

“One of the best hotels!”

We booked this hotel at the last minute for a weekend get-away. We arrived late--almost midnight but received fantastic service. I requested a crib at check-in and it was outside our door before we were able to unload our suitcase and 2 year old. Our room was spotless and spacious. The bed was one of the most comfortable that we have slept in.The next morning we had the breakfast buffet which was reasonable for the price. We took a walk outside to see the beautiful lake and were surprised that we could rent paddle boats. The only issue that we had was the $9.99 fee for internet use. We were so pleased with our stay that we have agreed that whenever we travel to this area we will stay at this hotel.

“older but well maintained”

Older hotel that is not in the best of locations, but is staffed by extremely friendly competent people. and is well maintained. We tried to pick a hotel between UNC and Duke as we were visiting both campuses in one weekend and from the Expedia website thought this would be a good fit. It is in an office park type setting, so it is not your "typical" North Carolina hotel, but was quite lovely. My son LOVED it. He thought it had a lot of character.

Area recommendations

Chapel Hill -- lovely residential area with multiple restaurants and shops.

“Home away from home!”

This is a perfect place to stay in the Triangle area. The suite is spacious, the bed incredibly comfortable. The large indoor/outdoor pool, paddle boats on the lake, tennis court and sand vollyball court provide endless entertainment. The facility is close to restaurants (one inside!), I-40, minutes to Chapel Hill, Durham and Raleigh. The staff have always been friendly. I have stayed so often in the past 4 years that it feels like coming home.

Area recommendations

Too many to list! Got to visit Franklin Street in Chapel Hill, a Durham Bulls game, downtown Raleigh, Carrboro (Carr Mill and surrounding shops and eateries). If you are going toTHIS area you probably already know many of the top places to visit.

“Hidden fees”

The was not any "free" continental breakfast it was an overly expensive one that we did not pay for. The high speed internet was not free either. Also! They put a hold of $80 on your account when you check in and it actually comes out of your account when they swipe if you use a debit card, they don't make u sign anything, nor do they tell you until you look at your account yourself and see that it's $80 short, THEN! they can't guarantee that your money will be returned to your account within 5 days, instead you have to wait almost 10! That whole situation was a crock of crap. And I dont know that I will return to this hotel....
