“Solid comfort”
We booked this despite some unflattering reviews on Expedia and were pleasantly surprised. We needed a week at Duke for research and this was as good as possible under the circumstances. That is, Duke is a big campus and not easy for those on foot. While the restaurant did not offer dinner there were cages within 15 mins walking. Good if you have a car, reasonable otherwise. The room was big, light, a/c adjustable and everything worked.
“Nice and clean”
Very clean with good size bathroom with a long counter. Convenient to Duke University activities. Nice people at the desk. Has a laundry room with two sets of washers and dryers. No continental breakfast was my only cause for disappointment. We have booked a return stay.
“Great hotel for Duke and VA Hospitals”
This hotel turned out to be well worth the expense. It is convenient to many interests and you can walk to the hospitals. They provided directions to local attractions such as restauraunts and shopping malls. Staff was very professional and even offered alternate routes to avoid having to deal with I 40 and I 85. Definately worth checking into if headed to Durham NC.
“Nice place”
Very nice place convenient to many attractions. Friendly staff that was able to provide answers to questions.
“Great place to stay”
We were in town for a Duke football game and the hotel was perfect for us. They had a shuttle that took us to the Chapel before the game and would have picked us up if we had wanted. The staff was nice and the free WiFi was a big bonus. Breakfast was very reasonable and tasty. Overall it was perfect for what we needed during our 2 day stay.
“Stay here for the location”
We needed a place to stay locally while work was done on our home. We chose the Brookwood because it was so conveniently located. Perhaps it was the time we were there, they were doing some kind of renovations, but we did not feel particularly welcome. They were super intense about their parking, possibly because big storage bins filled many spaces for their reno. The hotel was loud. The keys failed to work four times in the week. The air conditioning was loud and minimally effective. There was a fight in the hallway that was frightening on our last night. The front desk staff is not empowered to assist with fairly straight forward requests (or is so empowered but disinclined to help). That said, most staff were friendly. The room was reasonably clean, and the location cannot be beat.
