Truly unique experience in a spectacular part of Tuscany. Great staff - very helpful - especially front desk. Breakfast in the old Tuscan kitchen was excellent. Enjoyed the pool - somewhat unique design. Unfortunately the spa area was closed. Lots of care has been put into the restoration and decoration of the hotel. Some shops and a few restaurants around the hotel adds to the convenience. Restaurant associated with the hotel was excellent. Local shop owners around the hotel also very hospitable. Did quick day trips to San Gimignano and Siena from here.
We were most impressed by the staff (Serena! on reception - fabulous).. they made great effort to make our stay perfect.
The hotel is absolutely charming...lovely garden... beautiful terraces/pool, with the feel of old world with modern amenities. The restaurant was wonderful.

The hotel was set in a beautiful village situation, which was a good central location to tour the Tuscany area. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the rooms were lovely. Well kept and with good facilities and accessories.

The breakfast buffet was very nice and had a selection of meat, cheese, jams etc. The first day there were boiled eggs and the second there weren't and we were disappointed! There was lovely homemade cake both days. Coffee was nothing special, too bad we weren't offered cappuccino. Nice selection of herbal teas though.
Music (classical) was played through a radio, but I would have enjoyed more some Italian music from a CD (maybe the soundtrack of A Room With A View?? :-) for the atmosphere.
The view from the terrace we had our breakfast on was dreamy.
Our room was comfy and clean and roomy and nicely decorated. The lounge was also comfortable, had nice decor and a fireplace.
We are early risers and it was nice to get up and stroll around the gardens before breakfast. Otherwise we didn't "hang around", so we can't say anything about the pool (which was still open in early September) or lounging around during the day there.
The two close towns, Castellina and Rada, were pleasant and we enjoyed strolling around in them.
Our hosts were pleasant enough but weren't exactly "warm". When we asked about a nice place for dinner, we were told there were a lot of good places in town, and nothing more.

I was able to travel easily around Chianti and the surrounding area (San Gimigiano, Arezzo, Siena) using the hotel as my base, which allowed me to stay in the hotel for 3 days. Chianti was my favourite location in Tuscany and being able to stay in one place while exploring the area was a bonus.

Had a wonderful few days here over the L'EROICA cycling festival weekend. Perfect location, lovely pool with fantastic views. Shame that no evening meals available in restaurant, only breakfast. It was a bit off a trek to the shops without a car
