Raa Atoll, Maldives Hotels

Restricted to tourists until the late 1990s, Raa Atoll or North Maalhosmadulu, is made up of 90 isles, only 15 of which are inhabited. The islands are positioned around a series of round coral reefs and are bordered to the east and west by channels, creating unique conditions for diving. The capitol of Raa Atoll, Ungoofaaru, edges up to a reef and is the centre for social and economic events in the area. Fishing is also popular and abundant in Raa Atoll. Alifushi, on the northern end, is known for being home to talented boat builders and large shipyards
