Poorly managed, does not live up to 4 or 5 stars

Posted 17-Feb-2015
Pros: Building, pool.
Cons: Service. Restaurant. Cleanliness. Management.
Stunning location, but does not live up to its potential or price. Seems poorly managed. It feels like the staff have never worked in a hotel before. Rooms were not clean and missing basic items. Room service came without napkins - twice - at the restaurant too. The decor was lovely minimalist - but too minimalist....as though they ran out of money to furnish properly. Elevator was broken. The beds were so hard I woke up with my arm asleep every morning. Wifi was down all the time. The restaurant had great pizza, but the rest of the food was horrible. Don't be fooled by the 'our chef is Italian'.....pasta so overcooked it fell apart in your fork. Other meals unidentifiable. Over an hour to get the bill after asking 4 times...finally stormed up to the bar to get it, and I still had to wait 20 more minutes. Such a shame. The building and pools are beautiful....so much potential.

The hotel is between Quepos and Manuel Antonio National Park, but too far to walk to either. It is perched on top of a ridge with a view to the north. There is no view of the sunset to the west. It has a nice pool but to get to the beach you have to go down a steep, rocky hill. Although I was given a ticket to get a towel there, no one from the hotel was at the beach. The room was clean but the chairs on the balcony and in the room were quite uncomfortable. There was a louvered door on the bathroom that made privacy non-existent. The restaurant food was so-so.

Fantastic hotel near the Manuel Antonio Nature Preserve. Large, clean, well-appointed rooms with free wi-fi and fabulous complimentary breakfast await you.

White, trying to be something, but ...

Posted 28-Dec-2014 on Hotels.com
Hotel is white, I mean white. It is also on a steep hill, so not recommended for anyone that has any issues making a steep hike. We arrived with one extra person and they were almost rude about it despite the room supposedly having a hide-a-bed. We were asked to pay additionally for the other person and that would be expected. It was just the approach. They put us in the furthest downhill room which made breakfast a hike. We were occassionally offered rides back to our room, but we really needed it going up, not down. Breakfast was fine. Other than our initial experience, the staff was friendly. The pool closed at 7pm which was not acceptable and despite the hotel signs indicating that it was open until 9pm. So, we didn't use the pool like we expected. The bed was too firm, would it be so much to consider some memory foam on the beds. The shower head was poorly designed/executed. It is a fancy device, but didn't work as expected and when set on certain settings had the potential to do physical damage to certain private parts.

Elendig frokost, men fint hotell

Nydelig beliggenhet, men det lønner seg å ha egen bil da det ligger litt avsides

Beautiful facade, just not worth the price.

Posted 17-Dec-2014 on Hotels.com
I stayed one night at this hotel to experience Quepos - it was my most expensive hotel out of my trip. The hotel facade is beautiful. However, there many small things that turned me off about this place. The room was not the cleanest - my bed sheets had a stain on them (yuck), the picture frame had some kind of spray stains on it. The floors were not the cleanest - if you're going to have an all-white room, you'd better be ready to bleach the cr*p out of everything daily. The shower was AWFUL - I didn't even get hot water. Not only that but the body sprays had clogs and didn't spray through all the holes. (Did I mention no conditioner?) The shower cap looked like it was being reused like it was shoved back in. In the evening (6-7 PM) after a long day, I wanted to get into the jacuzzi but they don't even keep it on.
