Posted 16-Jun-2015
Pros: Huge rooms, full kitchens 1-2 mile from manuel Antonio Close to restaurants Has nice small beach just a short walk/hike down a hill. Terrible experience.

Posted 04-May-2015
Pros: The hotel itself, the cleanliness, and the golf car.
Cons: the service itself.
Location: Manuel Antonio is great, there are some nice restaurants with beautiful views. Also, there's a beach called Biezans which is really close to Shana.
The hotel looks great, but it has some serious flaws regarding experience. GOOD: - Nice looking hotel, and the rooms are great, clean and comfortable. BAD: - The A/C wasn't working, I tried to get it resolved, which didn't work. 2 nights with a faulty air conditioner. - The restaurant has a lacky service, when I asked for room service, they told me they were too busy. - The pool is public, so sometimes it gets a little too crowded, specially because there are some public parties, which may be uncomfortable if you are looking for relaxation.

Nice hotel with good views

Posted 30-Apr-2015
Pros: Good pool area, nice modern rooms, helpful staff.
Cons: The restaurant does great food but is expensive.
Location: If you have a car you're totally fine - if not it's a 15 minute walk on a trail to a small beach, a longer walk to the main beach or a taxi.
Had a great stay at the Shana. Good hotel, good pool, friendly service, looking out over the jungle to the sea. Only a 15 minute walk to the beach (it can be steep so only if you're up for walking). And great pizzas at the restaurant (if a bit pricey).

Disappointing

Posted 23-Feb-2015 on Hotels
Unfortunately the Shana Hotel was very disappointing. It looks lovely on the outside and has a great view from the pool but the rooms were dark, dirty, and uncomfortable. The service was also disappointing and they really didn't seem to care how disappointed we were. The only saving grace was the free 15-minute massage - that was incredible and much appreciated upon arrival. One beach was walkable but make sure you get back to the hotel before dark b/c it's a scary walk through the jungle. Also, don't bother contacting the concierge - there isn't one. Better luck with other hotels in Manuel Antonio- we still loved the area!

Poorly managed, does not live up to 4 or 5 stars

Posted 17-Feb-2015
Pros: Building, pool.
Cons: Service. Restaurant. Cleanliness. Management.
Stunning location, but does not live up to its potential or price. Seems poorly managed. It feels like the staff have never worked in a hotel before. Rooms were not clean and missing basic items. Room service came without napkins - twice - at the restaurant too. The decor was lovely minimalist - but too minimalist....as though they ran out of money to furnish properly. Elevator was broken. The beds were so hard I woke up with my arm asleep every morning. Wifi was down all the time. The restaurant had great pizza, but the rest of the food was horrible. Don't be fooled by the 'our chef is Italian'.....pasta so overcooked it fell apart in your fork. Other meals unidentifiable. Over an hour to get the bill after asking 4 times...finally stormed up to the bar to get it, and I still had to wait 20 more minutes. Such a shame. The building and pools are beautiful....so much potential.

Nice hotel compared with others in manuel Antonio

Posted 14-Feb-2015 on Hotels
Nice views, great pool. Not so easy to get to without a car. Very friendly check in staff. The bed was hard though.. I was shocked it was not more comfortable. They should invest in better mattress and fluffier and firmer pillows. Spacious modern bathroom

The hotel is between Quepos and Manuel Antonio National Park, but too far to walk to either. It is perched on top of a ridge with a view to the north. There is no view of the sunset to the west. It has a nice pool but to get to the beach you have to go down a steep, rocky hill. Although I was given a ticket to get a towel there, no one from the hotel was at the beach. The room was clean but the chairs on the balcony and in the room were quite uncomfortable. There was a louvered door on the bathroom that made privacy non-existent. The restaurant food was so-so.

Shana hotel

Posted 02-Feb-2015 on Hotels
