“good hotel with good service”
Our stay was quite comfortable. The hotel itself is nothing fancy, but in a good condition. What really makes all the difference is the great service from hotel staff. They were all very nice and helpful. This is important when staying in Manuel Antonio since you often need to arrange different activities / tours / transportation etc. To sum it up - dont hesitate to book this hotel if the price is nice. But do not expect a lavish 5 star resort.
“terrible”
rude service, poor upkeep of rooms (toilet did not work, shower did not work), rooms were not cleaned properly and items (towels or soaps) were not restocked ever.
“Beautiful view but overpriced”
Our hotel had a beautiful view, but it was overpriced, old and needed some care in the room and outside of hotel. Our room had bugs in it. The bed was old and lumpy. The stairs were very difficult to walk on when it was raining. The breakfast was limited and had flies swarming on some of the pastries.
“Gorgeous views!!”
Second visit to this hotel. Views of ocean can't get much better. Staff very friendly and helpful. Great breakfasts. Love the infinity pools and hot tub. Sunsets are beautiful to view from restaurant and pool area. Rooms are sparse but very clean. Stayed in a standard ocean view room. Updated bathrooms nice. Like most places, could hear neighbors TV. Who needs to watch TV in a place like this? Luckily, the spider monkeys playing on our roof drowned them out a lot. Would highly recommend this place. Do plan on returning here again on next trip.
“Was even more beautiful in person”
The character of the hotel and the views were what attracted me to book this hotel, but I was swept away by being there in person! You cannot capture those views in a picture. The staff was helpful and friendly. We booked all the excursions through the hotel and we were not disappointed. The food at the restuarant was wonderful.
“On top of the world”
Overall, great location and Hotel. You have a fantastic views of Manuel Antonio, sunsets and the ocean. Easy walk to one of the best beaches in Costa Rica or you can take a hotel shuttle. Unfortunately, the staff was less than satisfactory. Not overly friendly and helpful.
“1000 Monkeys can't be wrong”
Checked in a day early after a 4.5 hour drive from Arenal. Not only did they have a room they upgraded us to an ocean view suite. From our private balcony we watched white faced monkeys frolic in the palm trees less than 15 feet away. The staff was very friendly and went out of their way to assist with calls to my rental car company to get a repair person on site. The grounds are beautiful, the views are world class. Highly recommend this hotel.
“Infinity pool and beyond”
Great hotel with wonderful views and excellent service. We were upgraded from standard garden view to standard ocean view which was amazing, waking up to Playa Manuel Antonio from the hillside setting of the hotel. However our friends who were upgraded to the deluxe ocean view had to climb up to the top floor to get to their room 3 floors up and there's no elevators. There's an amazing infinity pool which lights up at night and waiters deliver your drinks pool side. There are also swim up pool bars. The food was pretty good and the setting very romantic on the terrace in the evening. There is a shuttle bus to the beach otherwise you need a car to get to Manuel Antonio or Quepos. Both bustling little towns though Quepos can be a bit seedy at night. Many venues close early at 10pm around the hotel so don't plan for late night dining. The hotel organised all our trips very efficiently, mangrove kayaking and rafting with Unique tours were great. Nothing was ever too much trouble and everyone speaks English. Watch out for the monkeys jumping round the hotel as they will pinch your stuff if you leave windows open but they are cute. Great experience and recommend La Mariposa, it is listed in that 1001 places book so what else can I say.
“La Mariposa”
We actually didn't like our stay. We tried to leave and we weren't let out of the remaining nights. The hotel was over priced and the rooms were old. The manager never got back to us about our ipods being stolen eventhough he told us 3 different times that he would get back to us. I even left my email address for him but still haven't heard from him and it has been a week now.
“One of our best vacations ever”
Had a great time at La Mariposa. The staff bent over backwards to be helpful and accomodating - thanks especially to Andres and Johannes. Views were spectacular. We particularly liked the restaurant on the grounds of the hotel but not affiliated with the hotel. Bed was a little too firm but the room was large, attractive, and spotlessly clean. Problems (a non-working light) were dealt with immediately and graciously. We would definitely stay there again.
