“Good budget choice”
We needed a clean basic room for two separate nights as a lauchpad to go hiking and were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the hotel and room. Our basement rooms even had lake views.
“(Budget) rooms with no view”
Hotel has a great location, only 10 minutes easy walk to the town centre along the lake front. One would expect that great views come with such a great location. Unfortunately, the budget rooms don't have any views. We stayed in two rooms, one on the 10th floor with view of a car park out the back. The other one was on the 6th floor and was, strangely, situated underneath a car park (this was noisy at night as one could hear cars driving, and footsteps) and the room had the hotel swimming pool and hot tub right outside its window wall - therefore no privacy (plus noise at night as other guests used the hot tub beyond the official closing time). Beds were rather soft. Most of the hotel interior looked a bit dated/stuffy, but it's clean.
“Rengarajan”
Hot water system was operation was so complicated and not user friendly. This is small and important for tenant without hot water you cannot take bath in daily basis.
“good value, good location”
Stayed in a budget double and a budget twin, both were fine, the double was very good, more than I would expect from what was the cheapest option on expedia and would certainly stay again. I dint eat there other than a late night snack, which was fine although not cheap. Good minibar available nice views althugh this would depend on the room of course. Nice hot tub outside and a small but clean and warm pool. Access to the internet is best avoided as a bit pricey worked fine though, cable not wireless.
“Needs a major do up!”
The hotel is in a great location, only a few minutes walk to town. But, next time I would try elsewhere. The hotel is very dated and needs a major do up. It has more stars than it deserves. If you are thinking about eating at the Indigo bar, don't! The seafood chowder was terrible, it tasted like a cup of boiling vegemite with extra salt and chewy seafood. The room though was tidy and clean, and had great heating., so we had a bit of a mixed experience.
“In need of some maintenance”
The staff were lovely and the scenery and location amazing but the general maintenance of the hotel needs some serious work. It looked nice from far but was far from nice - shabby and in need of some care. The hotel walls must be extremely thin as I could hear the people talking in the next room and had to turn my TV up to drown out theirs. I could also hear every bus coming and going from the very early hours. Sleep was difficult, which is not what you want from a hotel. Personally, although the service was good, I would not stay there again unless it was upgraded and improvements made. A little bit of fresh paint would help for a start.
“Great position, short walk to the centre of town, great views”
It was my second visit to Rydges in Queenstown but the room this time wasn't that great. The hotel has great location but it shows signs of aging. My deal included hot breakfast and it was "ordinary’. The breads however were delicious. The staff is great and very helpful. If you are looking for a reasonable priced hotel with a walking distance to the centre of town (along the lake-10 to 15 mins) it'll be a good choice. Overall it is a good hotel (looks great outside) for the money you pay.
“Hotel needs to be upgraded”
We recently stayed at the Rydges Queenstown during April. The hotel itself is in need of an upgrade to bring it up to 21st century standard of a 4 star hotel. Room service was very good. The location of the restaurant is wonderful - the most beautiful views across the lake. Dissappointed though with overall service and standard of food at the restaurant. As a result we only had one evening meal & one breakfast. Overall, an affordable hotel to stay close to town in a fantastic location, but the hotel does need to be upgraded.
“Terrific location”
Stayed 5 nights at this hotel with family. The views were stunning, great location, close to CBD, transport etc. Service/staff were great. Will be returning for another stay in the future.
“Great location and happy Hour but small rooms”
A typical Rydges hotel and everything you would expect. We stayed 3 nights April 2011: booked Superior Room and was upgraded to Deluxe, probably due to high number of tourist buses that use the hotel needing all the lower accommodation levels.. Bar staff and service excellent: highly recommend Indigo Bar for Happy Hour! Restaurant equally good with nice meals. Breakfast is hectic! During our stay up to 4 bus loads of tourists decend like vultures! Otherwise breakfast OK: thought it too pricy but we had it included in our package. Very quiet at night and had no problems. Just wished room was a bit bigger and had a small table and a couple of chairs. Balcony also built for hobbits!
