A great location that allows you an easy 15min walk to the walled Old Quebec City. The walk takes you past the citadel and the provincial legislature building, which we unfortunately couldn't tour due to security concerns following the Ottawa national legislature attack the day before. The architecture and history in the old city is fantastic. You can do self-guided tours, or various paid options. Don't miss stopping for breakfast at Paillards bakery on Saint Jean street. If you are driving, the hotel has valet parking for a fee on a back hot. Street-front to the hotel has everything from McDonalds and Subway to elegant dining and nightlife. The downstairs Taverne next door has welcoming atmosphere with local clientele and TVs for watching your favorite sports. Food selections are limited but good.
Lovely hotel! We stayed at Le Port Royal December 15-18 as we wanted to visit Old Quebec at Christmas time. The location is excellent for walking anywhere in Old Quebec, there is parking which was a must for us ($17 daily), and the price was right -- we were traveling with our 13 month old so we rented a superior room which is a large suite with a kitchen and separate bedroom, all for $133 nightly on Expedia. The rooms are absolutely beautiful, they have blockout curtains (a must with our little one), and overall we were very pleased. The hotel staff was courteous as well. I am bilingual but my husband only speaks English, and they all were able to conmunicate with him just fine. My only complaint is that we had to call three times (once in the evening and twice the next morning) to get fresh towels (our room hadn't been cleaned that day because our daughter was napping), so I'm not sure what happened there -- likely just a misunderstanding. Anyway, I can be pretty picky but I very highly recommend this hotel! We were very pleased.
Arrived very late and were greeted at the front desk by someone who unlocked the front door for us. Check in was quick and friendly. Breakfast in the morning was charming and creative. It was part of the deal so that saved us probably $25 to $30 each day. Not a heavy breakfast and definitely everything I was looking for. 24-hour espresso machine is a fun touch and I think we tapped that once each day. The front desk people set up a tour for us and the taxi back to the airport at the end. Oh yes. The location is a 5 minute walk to any part of the old city. We walk fast so plan on 10 and you will be fine. I'm sure we'll be back to the City and this hotel. Thanks!
The personnel was very cordial. The pool room in the green house with the trees and everything, this was very nice. We enjoy very much having diner at the restaurant. The food was delicious and the service was extraordinary. It was only for one night and it made us wich to stay longer.
This is a lovely boutique hotel in a great location. It is located in the museum district and is within walking distance to most of the city attractions and fine restaurants. Would definitely stay there again.
we arrived early and were able to get our room immediately wich was very pleasant, staff are very friendly and hotel loby really clean and chic , room are of a nice size and beds are amazingly comfortable and room was very clean . we enjoyed our 2 nights stay and looking towards to our next stay there . I recommend this hotel very strongly
My husband and I went to chateau Frontenac for a mini honeymoon after getting married in Mexico. Staff were very attentive and helpful, trying to make my New Zealander husband at home. From reservations to fun outings to pleasant newlywed touches we were very well looked after. Merci beaucoup!!!!
"Great Hotel While Driving from Nova Scotia to Onta"
I found this hotel when looking for somewhere to stay while traveling with my cat. The rooms were new and clean, staff were friendly, welcoming, and knowledgeable. Overall, I had a very pleasant overnight stay. I would recommend this hotel, even if traveling without pets, and will stay here again next time I drive this route.
Breakfast is not included, but I had breakfast in the dining room. Cheaper than the Tim Hortons across the street, and with a lovely breakfast and friendly service.
Great value for the money for both the room and breakfast.
