“Perfect, prime location in old, historic Quebec”
Small boutique hotel centrally located. Park your car in the indoor city parking lot and walk 1.5 blocks to this hotel located on a pedestrian street in historic Quebec. Staff is bilingual, friendly, and helpful. Breakfast is included in the price and is not your typical continental breakfast, but your choice off the menu of quality foods. Dinner, if you are willing to pay well for fine food, is not to be missed. Make sure to check the number of beds. This being in a very old building in a UNESCO world heritage site, the rooms are probably going to be smaller than you would normally expect, so just plan accordingly. The rooms are tastefully decorated with all the modern amenities and each room is unique. The only thing I would change would be to have a softer mattress, but that is quite subjective!
“Great Small Hotel”
This is a great place to stay in Old Quebec. Small hotel, 3 floors with I think 3 or 4 rooms per floor. Extremely clean. Cozy, romantic. No elevator. Much much nicer than some of the other larger hotels in the area
“Absolutely delightful”
This hotel is absolutely delightful in every way. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Our room was very nice, spotlessly clean and quiet. Breakfast at the hotel restaurant was great, as it was from a menu, so freshly prepared and very good. It is perfectly located for all sightseeing, as we walked everywhere. I would definitely go back.
“Beautiful place to stay!”
My room was wonderful--very large and comfortable (full kitchen and dining area; heated bathroom floors; turret-style windows overlooking the fountain circle and the Hotel Frontenac/St. Lawrence River). The staff was helpful and friendly. The hotel is situated within walking distance of everything--shops, cafes, beautiful views. Quebec is beautiful! The Auberge Place d'Armes was a good choice and I would stay there again.
“postage size room central to everything”
Quaint and clean BUT if your waist is over 40" forget about it! The shower opening in the pint sized bath is less than 18" wide and the entire bathrroom is less than 36x30". Claustrophobic folk will not want to stay here. In addition the 7 or 8 eight inch wide steps leading to the front desk are difficult to manage even without luggage and the flight of stairs to the rooms are also very steep and very narrow. The front desk is also the entrance to the resturaunt and is usually staffed by one person only. Other than these features, this auberge is situatued perfectly in relation to Quebec City and the Frontenac and everything sightseeing. The room was very quiet, comfortable (after getting used to the postage size room) and clean. Staff were very oblidging and the Le Pain restaruant very satisfying.
“'Historic building in a great location'”
Auberge Place D'Armes is ideally situated to to take advantage of the many interesting attractions in vieux Quebec. It is an imaginative and stylish conversion of historic buildings. Our room overlooked a busy artisans market and beyond to the tranquility of the ancient Anglican Church. The bedroom was reminiscent of a small, smart boutique hotel in a quaint part of Paris, with its exposed brickwork, ambiance lighting and stylish prints. No real complaints except for a certain lack of wardrobe space. Service was generally, but not uniformly, very friendly and helpful. A real plus point were the breakfasts which were outstanding for both in terms of quantity and quality and served in the chic surroundings of the 'Le Pain Beni', an excellent restaurant in its own right attached to the hotel.
“Top notch”
Wonderful boutique hotel right in the heart of the old city. Service was great. Breakfast and dinner at the restaurant were excellent.
“A nice mix of modern and old in Quebec City”
The room was very comfortable ,the only comlaint we would make is there needs to be more shelving and a hook in the bathroom. The bathroom was small and lovely but nowhere to put two toilet bags for showering and nowhere to hang a dressing gown or night attire while in the shower. A very minor complaint!. We were in a front room which we loved but can be noisy from the street. If that is a concern a guest should request a room to the back,it may be quieter. Overall a lovely place to stay with friendly and very helpful staff.
“Very Pleasant Stay!”
The staff are extremely friendly, the caretakers are thoughtful, and the room was wonderful. Everything is very elegantly designed and appointed rooms, and most of all, the location is superb. Although the hotel does not have parking of its own, there is tons of parking in nearby areas and hotel management were very helpful in guiding us around. Overall, a joyful experience that we would love to repeat. We highly recommend this hotel, particularly to young couples.
“had a great time”
the hotel was exactly what we wanted...an old building with modern conviences! it is in old quebec in the middle of everything we needed..shops,restaurants and museums. it was close to the finicular..so going to the port area was convenient.three adults and three children in two rooms worked out great! the children had never seen a murphy bed. we look forward to another stay!
