This is a true gem of a hotel. I cannot say enough good things about it.
It’s is modern and gracious. The rooms are calm and cool, with the most efficient and quiet AC I’ve ever experienced in a hotel. Just the right temperature, no sensation of blowing. This was very important, as our stay coincided with a terrible heat wave. The decor is serene and unfussy.
Service in the room is perfect and at least twice daily. Everything worked perfectly. We had a tub and a shower. The shower had a rain head and a handheld, fixed at chest level, so it was easy to freshen up from the heat without getting your hair wet.
There is an espresso maker, a small minibar selection, and paper cups as well as a china set. Water (gratis) is refreshed daily. There is a small fridge.
The only problem with our room was the lack of drawers. There are only two, they are in the closet, and very small. But the closet space is enormous.
We had a deluxe king with a balcony over the park. A lily pond is below, and frogs are busy all night. We like the sound, and left our patio door cracked open to enjoy them.
There is very little traffic, especially at night. By walking across the park and to your right there are many interesting and vibrant neighborhoods within a mile. We walked everywhere. If you walk straight through the Park, past the Palais Beaumont, the promenade will take you directly to the castle. Views of the Pyrénées the whole way.
Breakfast here is decent, but overpriced (26 euros).
