Beautiful resort on the beach

Posted 28-Feb-2015
Pros: The pools are beautiful! Everyone is very friendly.
Cons: The fitness center was very disappointing and need to be updated. The machines are old and several were not in working condition. Needs more stores!
Location: Excursions are really the only things to do other than go to the pool, beach, golf or eat. There is virtually NO SHOPPING which was very disappointing
It was a beautiful resort and everything was in walking distance. There were golf carts available if you didn't want to walk. The pools are gorgeous!

Beautiful Resort With Lots to Offer

Posted 24-Feb-2015
Pros: Rooms were great with a nice walk in closet, view of the ocean, and a large bathroom. I loved the adult pool at the castle.
Cons: Some troubles with keeping our room fridge stocked, but no big deal.
Location: We were looking for a break from the hectic day to day life at home, so getting out wasn't a big priority.
Our stay at the Sanctuary provided everything we could ask for. The staff were great, and went out of their way to make our stay pleasurable. Lots of pools, entertainment and great food choices. We enjoyed every minute of our time away!

Very nice resort. Service just OK

Posted 23-Feb-2015
Pros: Staff, bars, swim up bar, pool, views
Cons: service time at restaurants
The resort is amazing. Breathtaking views and the facilities are all very nice. The beach area is very small, but it was fine for us. The pool(s) are all very nice and definitely kid friendly at the main pool. Our room was nice, but the view was just OK. We should have upgraded to a nicer view, but we were fine with it. The restaurants were all good...nothing spectacular but that's pretty much what we expected. While all of the staff were excellent, the service was just OK. It often took us a while to get seated for dinner and then it would take a while to get our order taken and for the food to come. I'm definitely not complaining because we had an amazing time and we were just there to relax, but it was a bit frustrating. The room service took a long time...we even fell asleep one night waiting for it to arrive! All in all I would recommend the resort and we would certainly go back.

Most gorgeous resort ever!

Posted 23-Feb-2015
Pros: Very beautiful resort.
Cons: Service must be improved and staff better trained. Specially in the buffet. Had to ask for things way too many times.
Location: Not much around the resort.
Stayed in a villa on the beach. Gorgeous resort, but very poor service. Most of the staff did not understand English very well. Wifi in room basically non existent. Food was great though.

Disappointing

Posted 20-Feb-2015
Pros: Private check-in was impressive. Blue Marlin has amazing views, a great breeze, and delicious food.
Cons: The staff need to be more friendly, and should learn at least a little bit of English. The cleaning staff needs to be instructed on how to clean.
Location: The airport is open-air. We did not leave the grounds.
The property is beautiful. The service was terrible. I understand that things aren't always perfect, but when things are brought to staff's attention and they don't get fixed, it's annoying. Cleaning staff came early in the morning (8:30), and I can't tell you what they cleaned. We stayed in Villa 2006 and it was supposed to be ocean view. I could see some of the ocean if I stood on my tip toes outside, but I wouldn't consider it ocean view. When we checked in our refrigerator still had half-empty beverages from the previous guests, and I don't think that the sheets had been changed. There were white bugs all over the wood. There weren't any window panes on the bathroom windows, so heat and noise poured in. The lighting was very dim. We did not care for the buffet restaurant, but Blue Marlin, Steakhouse, and Wok were very good. Marguerita (beach waitstaff) was great. If it rains, steer clear of the main building - they had several people mopping constantly but they couldn't keep up. Many things in our room were broken (tub, toilet, lamp, outlets, lawn chairs). We paid a very high price to have couples massage, and were supposed to have the opportunity to enjoy the bath ritual, but there were a group of girls being very noisey, so it was not in the least bit relaxing. The beauty of the grounds did not make up for all of the other disappointments.

Sanctuary Cap Cana

Posted 17-Feb-2015
Great place. The beach BBQ lunch is ok. Eat your lunch at casa Bella by the pool, Maria is great. Buffet with more items. Best restaurant is the steak house. Love Bar and the pool have great bartenders. Martha was great serving up the drinks on the beach. ChePe "the crazy waiter" is a great room service guy. Front desk seems overwhelmed, but give them time. They take all the heat. Relaxing place. Negatives- It says adults only, but wasn't. Also, didn't get the room that it looks like on the web (and here). Room was nice though.

We booked a mid-winter get away not knowing much about Punta Cana. We loved every moment of our trip! There were several pools so that if families traveling with kids were too loud, you could easily find 4 other pools, including one adults-only, that was quiet. We don't mind the sound of kids having fun so we stayed mostly at the main pool. We ate at all of the restaurants and the food was amazing! We did an excursion one day to the beautiful Hoyo Azul (blue hole) at Scape Park. It was amazing! There are so many excursions available through and at Scape Park and it was only a quick 10 minutes from the hotel. We purchased the group shuttle in advance to get to and from the airport to the hotel. Both ways, my husband and I were the only two on the shuttle! A private ride for the price of a bus full! One of the best things about the hotel were the activities and the people who were in charge of activities. There was something to do for everyone all day long which is probably why we only left the resort that one day. Actually we did take a shuttle to another AlSol probably but didn't stay long and were happy to stay at Sanctuary Cap Cana and not leave again! The beach at the Sanctuary Cap Cana is VERY private with tons of room and open space. So, it comes down to this; I loved it so much because of the beach, pools, food, and the staff. I've been at all-inclusive resorts before in Costa Rica and Mexica but this was my favorite by far!

If it wasn't for the people, we would have left!

Pros: The views of the Ocean were great, and the trails setup for running and cycling (I am an athlete) were beyond awesome.
Cons: See above.

The support and facilities staff were helpful, friendly, courteous and gracious. There is nothing to improve! They were great. That said, the facilities weren't not up to expectations. Some points. 1) there was no hot water in our room. We brought it up with the support staff, and despite their best effort, we never got any. We had to walk to the Spa to shower and clean up. NOT cool. 2) We were told that there was free wifi, but we had to walk 5 minutes to get to it. 3) The facility was understaffed. There were lines 10 people deep at the towel pickup and drop off. The staff waiting in the breakfast and lunch area were sweaty and nearly running. We would routinely run out of coffee or tea and wait up to 10 minutes to get a refill. It certainly was not the staff's fault. Their good attitude could not fill in the gap between services levels and service level expectations. Would I go back? Probably, if there was more staff working.
