Clean facilities, great beach

Pros: THE FOOD!!! and the wait staff.
Cons: The rooms could use some updating.
Location: Very close to the mall and a night club as well as other resorts
The rooms were just ok and could use updating. It didn't bother me much because I spent very little time there, but the property in general was beautiful and very clean! The food was EXCELLENT! I ate in every restaurant and they were all top notch. Real seafood, great variety, great chefs, fresh food, great presentation of the food, great iced coffee, and the wait staff......the greatest ever! I was really impressed. Great gym and workout facilities. The entertainment was ok and probably could be better, but it was fine. Casino is small but sufficient because you can always go to the neighboring casinos by shuttle for free. Overall, a great experience.

Pros: We loved the beautiful property, the assortment of excellent restaurants and drinks around the pool. Everyone at resort was friendly and helpful.
Cons: Possibly adding more entertainment in the evening, a sports bar would of been awesome! Even an ice cream or just dessert place for late night.

The Paradisus Palma Real is an absolutely beautiful resort! From the gorgeous pools to the immaculate gardens and hundreds of palms trees on property you will not have to be reminded that you are in a tropical paradise. The restaurants were all very good and the servers were excellent. Do have to warn you tho, the beaches are very pretty except tons of seaweed on the beach everyday, they try their best to clean it up but it is an ongoing problem. Beware of transfers companies outside of airport that will have you believing they are there to pick you up and transfer you to your hotel, they will even go as far as having a sign with your last name on it, they told us that hotel sent for you because we were "VIP"s. Next thing you know you are signing something that cost $60.00 much more than the $30.00 cab ride that it should cost. But overall a great place to spend a honeymoon or anniversary or any occasion for that matter.

Great Resort!!!

Pros: The openness and decor of the hotel, also the beautiful staff.
Cons: I would say they could improve on their american cuisines.
Location: Every excursion they had available was within great proximity of the resort.
If your planning a trip to Punta Cana, DR, this is the place to be. Beautiful resort and the staff really made you feel welcome. My only criticism is the food at Vento restaurant. It was supposed to be greek food, but it was not the greek food I know. Overall, everything was great.

Pardisus -- Expected better

Pros: Everything was fine -- except........
Cons: Food was big disappointment.
Location: We don't do excursions, except rarely. However, we talked to a few people that did snorkel trips that they seemed to like. All day affairs, though
First, let say the resort was beautiful, the pools great, the people wonderful and rooms comfortable. This is typical Paradisus. But what really sets them apart is the quality of their restaurants. However, as a result of less than 50 percent occupancy the La Palma Real closed various restaurants in the evening and the food was sub par. We were at La Perla two years ago in early October with the same type of occupancy rate and they did not close restaurants and their food was excellent. The La Palma Real food was not nearly up to what we expected. This is the reason I would not recommend the resort. The two open-air restaurants were almost a quarter mile from our Royal Service room and my wife could have use some transport to get there. So, we may have missed the good stuff -- though we overhead people saying they weren't real pleased with those two. Finally -- and ALL-INCLUSIVE resort means just that, folks. You put things out of balance when you tip for every service while guest obeying the rules don't. Plus, everyone works hard to serve you, and all you do is pay the people up front. All the other help deserves as much and I can guarantee you there's not much sharing. So, save your tips to the end of your stay and target those you'd like to tip.

Second time around

Pros: The staff at Palazzo were great!
Cons: The beach staff at the royal service area would reserve lounge chairs on front row of the beach and say it was done by guests, not cool.
Location: Location was good, but there is lots of sea grass in the ocean which can be annoying. Shopping is what you would find at home, so nothing special.
We stayed for a week in the Royal Service butler area where everyone seemed to celebrating something. Received an upgrade (small) upon check in after presenting my Expedia gold card. They didn't know what it was and wanted to challenge/upsell me without checking. Check in took quite a while (about an hour). The butler service sounds better than it is. Our butler was personable but they are not willing to really go the extra mile as you may think or advertised. Other guests told us to push the envelope. The mini bar was stocked mostly with 3 kinds of soft drinks and a couple of kids juice boxes. The beer is Presidente no matter where you go nothing else. The entertainment nightly was something to do and couple of times we were happy we went, but mostly it bordered on cheesy. The Red Lounge was empty since it was low season and the folks that advertise the AKON disco were constantly marketing that as after 11pm entertainment. The lobby bar is under utilized and they have interesting drinks. The room was OK, nothing special. The partial ocean view was non-existent. Housekeeping was not consistent with leaving replacement amenities. The food in Palazzo was better than any other restaurant. Don't waste your money on Passion. Ambience is horrible and the food is so so at best. The worst food would be at the Market Grill. People were nice, but the language barrier prevented really good service. Also found out we could have eaten at other hotels with our bands after the fact.

Hotel was beautiful and the beach was terrific. The room was nice but we had to have maintenance come 3 times to fix the shower as there was no hot water. Royal Service is a must! Food is good but won't be the best meal of your life. The pool side cabanas are great for afternoon naps and getting out of the sun but be prepared to play the towel game to claim your space.

Nice Getaway

Pros: The location, the view, the atmosphere - contemporary, the staff
Cons: Have a DJ at the pool or some form of entertainment
Location: Boating, snorkeling, kayaking, all water sports
We were there with 5 other couples and the service was amazing. Gregario (sp?) especially was so welcoming every morning at breakfast and then AGAIN at dinner. He worked hard every day! We could be a little loud (12 people) but the staff was patient and attentive each day and everywhere we went on the premises the service was top notch. They even brought drinks to us on a tray to the pool and the beach and kept them coming at dinner without us asking. Wonderful staff!!

Terrible customer service

Pros: The location, beautiful beaches, nice pool and spas.
The Wifi service is not as described. It has very poor signal. Also making a reservation at any of their 6 restaurants was the worse part. Their reservation system is out of place and does not really give you a reservation until the day of. The buffet menu was the same during our entire stay. The waiters/waitress have no manners and do not provide a service with a smile.
