We enjoyed our 11 night stay as a party of 9, with 4 adults and 5 kids (12-17). The grounds are beautiful and the beach is clean! Our rooms were cold, clean and well laid out. We loved how there are multiple pool options, and food options. Our concierge, José Ignacio Franco, was awesome!! We celebrated a birthday while there and he had our room decorated, a custom cake made and a bottle of champagne ready for our celebration! The bartenders were fun and made the pool area a blast! Yessie de la Rosa was so fun and made our drinks perfectly! I would go back just to see her!! The food was the most disappointing part of our stay along with the quality of the alcohol. Some of the servers were unfriendly and a few times rude. Overall I would give it 4 stars!!

We took all inclusive. Better side: 1. Quick checkin. 2. Pools 3. Pool bar 4. Buffet open through majority of the day and some other restaurants open for night 5. Good service Improvements needed: 1. Very poor food across restaurants 2 jacuzzis in main pool don’t have hot water and sometimes they don’t even switch it on 3. Pool bars run out of liquor often 4. No good entertainment in evening, in other resorts they have live performances which are as good as professional shows. Here they played videos on large screen. It sucked. Only one good singer performed. 5. Activities were minimal. Given the food, entertainment, activities and drinks are important, we felt we overpaid.

The hotel overall is a nice and good quality facility important to improve the Asian restaurant is a total failure, both the menu and the quality of the food have nothing oriental. And the disco if we are in Santo Domingo we expect Latin music merengue, bachata, salsa, not a whole night of techno music.

Our stay was great. There was 7 of us and we all enjoyed it. Food was good you just have to pick what's good. Pasta was always good, steak was pretty good, and all the restaurants were great. Specifically the steak house and Italian. We will definitely be coming back!

The rooms, pools, and beach were fantastic, the food and drink were average (avoid the seafood). The customer service was very good, but be aware most of the workers only speak Spanish.

Occidental Punta Cana had the perfect mix of spring breakers and adults and families. The buffet food was decent and there were other options like a pizza shop and taco shop along with all the restaurants. The beach is a short 2 minute walk and the pools are gorgeous. Night life was fun and and beach days were fun where the hotel offered things like banana boats and parasailing for an affordable price. The staff makes booking things like excursions very easy as well. I would recommend staying at the resort for anyone looking for a fun affordable trip.

This was my second stay at Occidental Punta Cana. The rooms and general infrastructure of the property are good overall. Pros: Expedia has a butter service for its members which is a nice touch. He was always willing to assist and tried his best to improve the experience. Entertainment staff were fun, polite and worked hard to make you have a fun time. There were not too many people trying to sell you tours or souvenirs as in many other resorts. Cons: Quality of food and variety is borderline decent. Nothing especially good, many things bad. This is a barcelo resort and barcelo liquor was limited. How can a resort run out of ice on multiple occasions. If you will have a foam party why not put more servers in the pool bar at this peak period. Instead of having fun you were queueing for drinks for long periods. The price at this hotel is comparable for example with the Royalton which has 14 restaurants ( no reservations needed) with spectacular food quality and options, or Bahia Grand Bavaro which for the same price better food and service. The wait staff seemed sad or robotic, not engaging or sometimes a bit rude when getting drinks or being served at the restaurants. There are a few wonderful staff who do have a smile and willing to serve.

Very nice resort, first time in the Dominican so not sure how it stacks up against other resorts there. Food was good and always a nice variety. We did the steakhouse and the Italian for the a la carte. Steakhouse was excellent, don’t expect prime AAA Canadian beef and you won’t be disappointed. Italian was a little underwhelming, very small portion size and not much for taste. Luckily they have a late night pizza joint so we hit that up later on. The only real complaint and maybe it’s just my own ignorance but I did find the language barrier a lot higher than most other resorts I’ve visited (Cuba and Mexico). Other than that I would recommend his resort to anyone looking for a reasonably priced vacation resort

Liked the different pool options and the entertainment. Our room and the resort were clean. The tacos and pizza were our favorite food, but the restaurants were pretty good too. Buffet was ok. Most bars had long lines and drinks came SLOW, but they were starting! Our room did not have hot water and it took 3 phone calls and then walking to the front desk to finally get someone to come look at it. Not many workers seemed to be in any hurry to serve you. The beach is always windy, but water is beautiful. Wish the solicitors would leave you alone. Did not like that. Overall a nice experience, but some room for improvement.

Awesome resort. Amazing shows each night and during the day. Food is ok for all inclusive they actually change it up from night to night. The restaurants are awesome. Staff were extremely nice. The only thing I disliked are the constant staff trying to sell you or sign you up for timeshare. They don’t stop.

Me and my boyfriend absolutely loved this resort. Staff is really nice & will help you if you need anything. The buffet was great, food is really delicious. Only thing we’d have to say that was lacking a little would be the service for water. It so uld be hard to get water at our table & sometimes we would have to ask for it. Other than that, property is really clean, beach is really close to the lobby, about 4 minutes walk. We would definitely recommend this resort! Plus it’s not a huge resort so there’s not too many people

We stayed at the resort for 6 nights and enjoyed our stay. The food was good with lots of options each night. The food in some of the a la carte restaurants could be improved but the steakhouse had the best dishes. The hotel rooms were okay but definitely need an upgrade.

Staff was super unfriendly and made no effort to accommodate us throughout many areas of the entire trip. They were only nice to us when they wanted to sell us something. Overall very disappointed.

The grounds were beautiful and the beach was one of the cleanest and most beautiful beaches I've been to. The food was just okay except for the pizza and tacos - they were amazing! Was slightly annoying being bothered for spa services and time share opportunities until we finally just said we weren't interested. The bar staff was great! Knew what we liked and were very friendly.

The beachfront is very nice! The water is clean and calm. Food options are average if not less. The buffet isn't great either. The guest room is spacious, overall clean but you can find spots covered with dust, the headboard for instance. The bathroom needs a major update because the cleanness and condition is worse than Motel 6... The property, especially the guest room buildings is dated. The staff is nice but needs more training so they can be more efficient. Would I come back again? Definitely not. For the same price range, there are plenty other better choices.

We did have a great trip! But I want to make you aware of a few things. The property is large and well maintained. Very pretty and a good set up. However, it was hard to know what activities were going on with some at the beach and others at the pool. I can't speak on the nightly shows as it started too late for us (830p). It would have been nice to have an app to see what's going on at the hotel. Food was good/ok. However, despite the number of restaurants, only the buffet is open for breakfast and lunch. There's a limit on the number of reservations you can have for dinner. For a week, we were allowed 3 reservations. Otherwise, you have to check in day-of to see if there's any reservations left (and only 9/930p reservations were left, if any). We found ourselves eating similar things every day but felt it was good/ok food. The bars gave good drinks but only liquid drinks mostly; there were no blenders. Most staff were decent. We've been to many all inclusives in the Caribbean and we have to say that the general attitude of customer service here is you only get help if you speak in Spanish. You have to ask for basic things like water, silverware, tables being cleaned, etc. If you ask in English, you may get it if you ask a few times. Asking in Spanish, you will likely get it. Thankfully I know some Spanish! No one was rude but we can't say anyone was friendly either. Which was kind of isolating in a way. Overall, we had a good time but would likely stay elsewere!

A quick review stayed first week of Feb 2024 Rooom 4/5 - stayed in building 12 a/c worked no issues clean nice balcony room service everyday safe was working Grounds 5/5 -very clean easy to get around. You can alwas find a lounger or a chair. Bars 3/5 - lobby bar is the only one stocked with good drinks. The beach bar had only local rum or unknown name rum ,the beach gril bar had bacardi but only 2 bottles once it was lunch time they run out and only no name rum left. Only one type of beer and long line ups with only 1 bartender. Swim up bar in pool no issues. Food 2/5. - food was Meh. Only 2 nights at the buffet they had something different (tacos and calamari) other then that mostly cold cuts and pasta. One day they had salmon and as soon as we cut it it was raw inside. Buffet is busy but not enough servers to get u water or a drink. I ended up bringing water from the room fridge as sometimes no one would bring u water with your meal. Entertainment 3/5- entertainmemt team was great but there isnt a schedule listed in the rooms as to whats going on on what day. Live ari rock band was the highlight of the trip. Beach 5/5. - no complaints Overall its a 4 star so cant ask it to be a 5. I would go back for a 4-5 day stay as its still budget friendly and 7 days gets a bit repetative

There was no lock in the Washroom, since the day one. Have complained everyday for the privacy and no one listens! Ceiling fell in bedroom due to water issues in the air conditioning. We were in the Royal part of the resort. Wandered over to see the common folk. We were told we needed to stay on our side of the resort when we tried to order the same drink we had been drinking. Non royal guests drink alcohol that is local and bottom shelf.

We had cold showers at least half of the days we were there. As we are English speaking, we had a difficult time communicating with the bartender, the housekeepers and restaurant staff. We were only given 3 nights in the restaurants, out of a 7 night stay. The resort is beautiful, but with the other problems we will not be visiting this resort again.
