“Would definitely go again!”
This resort is extremely beautiful and welcoming. The staff were all very helpful and caring and the resort was super clean. The beach was beautiful as well. Well worth the money.
“Very friendly staff”
We really enjoyed our stay at the grand. Our room was near the beach and pool so we had the best of both worlds. Resturants are great and the staff is amazing. The food was very gormet style and was really tasty. The only downfall is like in prev reviews you do need to know spanish. I do speak enough to get by but my husband does not and he said if he didn't have me with him to translate he would be very frustrated. The sports bar is great and martin and carlos are wonderful. Also william at the pool bar is terrific. This is a great place to stay and would recommend it. Beaches do have alot of seaweed they try to clean it every morning but still can't get to it all. But for the cost of this hotel it is well worth it!
“Do yourself a favor”
Do yourself a favor and stay elsewhere. Hotel was old and outdated, service was unfriendly and very poor, most employees spoke very little English. The alcohol variety was pathetic, buffet food was plain, boring and identical everyday. The sales people at hotel and on beach were very pushy and relentlessly annoying. The only good thing was the beach which was very nice. Many other resorts to choose from, do yourself a favor and stay at another one. You'll thank me later.
“"surpassed our expectations"”
Hotel staff very helpful and friendly. There was a variety of food and plenty of it and was very good. There was a different theme every night. Sit down restaurants were outstanding. Grounds well maintained and easy to get around resort via on premises shuttle.
“best resort that I ever been to”
Amazing
“DONT GO!!!!!”
Dont be fooled by all inclusive. It is not worth it. The food is disgusting and the drinks are watered down. You have to tip well to get good service or good drinks, but there is nothing you can do about the quality of the food except go beyond the resort.
“Very nice place”
Overall the hotel was great. I only have 2 complaints; first, we had a lot of trouble keeping our minibar stocked. When we would call to have someone restock it; they usually would not arrive until several hours later. Second, the people on site were trying way too hard to sell their goods and services. They just would not take no for an answer. The hotel was very nice, the pools were great, the beach was wonderful, and the food was good...
“Very good.”
FOOD WAS VERY GOOD.
“Not Grand Palladium Quality”
We stayed at the Grand Palladium Resort in Riviera Maya Mexico last year and had a wonderful time which is why we decided to stay at the Grand Palladium in Punta Cana…the two resorts couldn’t have been more different if they tried. The employees in Mexico were warm and friendly and went out of their way to say “Hola” while the employees in Punta Cana couldn’t have been colder if they tried. With the exception of the front desk men, you could barely get a smile from anyone. If you don’t like your job…get a different one! There was construction going on everywhere in the complex resulting in all day noise and some restaurants being closed. The food for breakfast and lunch was the same day in day out and not very good at that. Despite the on-going construction of new buildings, the existing buildings were in disrepair with multiple patches on the roofs, etc. We had one deluxe room and one suite for this trip. The room had a terrible sewage smell which was addressed, but never fixed. The suite had air conditioning issues which took two days to correct, which was not a good thing with temps pushing 100 degrees. The Casino would fit into my Living Room and was being remodeled too. The worst part for me was the pushy salespeople EVERYWHERE. I don’t want to be harassed to go on day trips, buy into travel clubs or buy cheap jewelry in the lobby, at the pool, at the beach, on my way to eat and even on the way to the bathroom. I go on vacation to relax, not to be harassed!
“Good for the price”
Pros: This resort is a good value for the price. Absolutely BEAUTIFUL beach and grounds. We booked the lowest priced room, however, it was spacious with a jetted tub and balcony. The a la carte restaurants that we tried (Japanese, Brazilian, Mexican, and Italian) were all great. We didn't have to wait at any other than the Japanese. The theater shows that we attended were really entertaining. I recommend the circus show! There were plenty of things around the resort to keep us entertained. Cons:The downfall is definitely the buffet food. I work in a school and regularly eat "lunchroom" food so I don't feel like I am a picky eater. It was hard for me to find anything I liked. I usually ended up eating pizza, nachos, or fries for lunch, although there were many other choices (just nothing else that was good to me). The people were fairly friendly, but sometimes service at the restaurants was slow. Our room never got completely cool, and was very moist. The swimsuits we hung up to dry never really dried. Another issue for us was the language barrier, but by the end of the week, we were better at communicating with the staff. It seemed like there was always someone around that could speak English, so it really wasn't such a big deal. Overall, it was a great vacation. We went for the beach (why else would you go to the Dominican Republic?) so we were EXTREMELY satisfied with that! For the money we paid, we felt like it was all very well worth it.
