Great hotel, excellent staff, outstanding location

Pros: Friendly staff
Cons: Update the rooms, although they were clean and well maintained.
Location: There were many local tours of which we took two. We enjoyed both tremendously.
We spent 7 days at the hotel and enjoyed every minute. At check-in, we asked for a different room as the one they gave us did not match the discription of the room we had ordered. The staff immediately made it right with a great room, right on the pool. The food was great with a variety of items at the buffet each meal and additional options for dinner each night. All of the staff were very friendly and accomodating. Went scuba diving one day with the hotel crew and had a fantanstic time. For the price, I don't think we could have done any better!!!

If you like new hotels that do not need updating and are not rundown then stay here. The language barrier can be frustrating, you have to pay for wifi, cannot always get reservations at restaurants. Beach is besutiful but the grounds of the hotel need serious tlc. Our newer room was next to a construction site, need I say more. The food was pretty good and the entertainment and club was fun but I would not stay here again

Good only if you're looking for a deal

Pros: Beautiful beach, clean room, comfy beds. If you go to the pool early, you can put your towels down to save a nice cabana around the pool!
Cons: Clean the pool better
Location: We did a day tour to Saona Island and it was a fun day! There are people there to set up lots of other day trips too.
I just spent the last 6 days at Be Live Canoa and was relatively pleased with my stay, given the price. I have been to the Dominican Republic twice before and the hotels I stayed at before were much nicer than Be Live Canoa, but also more expensive. First of all, there was a very big language barrier at this resort. The past two times I have been to the Dominican, I didn't experience such a significant language barrier, so I probably should have prepared better. The pool was very dirty. I don't think the filter was working while we were there and there was a lot of debris and a film of possibly sunblock all around the pool. To make a reservation at a restaurant, you had to wake up at 7am or they would be booked. The food wasn't fabulous, but it wasn't awful either. I really enjoyed the Brazilian, Japanese, and Mexican restaurants. My husband, myself, and another couple booked the dinner by the beach one evening-- mine and my husbands lobster was delicious, but our friends couldn't cut through the steak because it was so tough. So if you do the dinner by the beach, get the lobster! We were upgraded to a junior suite for no extra charge and the room was kept very clean. We had trouble getting our fridge refilled a couple times, but I think this was another product of the language barrier. Overall, I would recommend it if you are looking for a tropical getaway for a deal!

Cons: AIR CONDITION, ROCKS IN THE BEACH.
Location: ALTOS DE CHAVON IS ABOUT 20 MINUTES DRIVING YOU HAVE TO PAY $25 PP TO GET IN CASA DE CAMPO I THINK THAT IS OVERRATED AND OVERPRICE.
POOR AC AT THE POINT THAT WE REQUEST ANOTHER ROOM, THE BEACH HAS TOO MANY ROCKS. THE FOOD IS OK.

Pros: The pool.
Cons: They should have a snack bar from 11p-2a as many other resorts have for their guest.
Location: The location was easy to find and is closed to Casa De Campo and Altos De Chavon.
When I arrived, the check in clerk could not find my reservation and I had to show the confirmation email I received from Expedia. On the 2nd day, the AC went out in the room and had a hard time trying to get them to transfer us to another room. The food was good and the staff overall was nice.

Cons: The food.
Location: We stayed on the resort.
I booked my trip through Expedia. When I got to the resort, they couldn't find my reservation. It took two and a half hours for me to get a room. That also happened to other people during the trip. The hotel itself is nice. The staff was very polite.The food could be much better. We ate french fries the whole time we were there because the other food wasn't good except for breakfast. The beach water was nice once you get out to the middle of the ocean. There were huge rocks that cut everyone's feet. The kids couldn't play in the water because of the rocks.
