“Best Bang For Your Buck”
We spent 12 days here in Mar. & had stayed there 12 years ago. Although their was some "wear and tear" on the outside of the building, there were also great improvements i.e. the little restaurant, the convenience store". Grounds and rooms are immaculate. We occupied a junior suite and were amazaed at the amt. of room we had in this suite. We had a full breakfast included in the amazingly low cost of the suite. We were right across from the beach, although we both love to lay around the pool, rather than deal with the bartering on the beach anyway. It is gated, so security was never an issue. The staff in the hotel lobby, especially Ruthie and Ulysses went out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed to make our stay in PV a memorable one. The staff in the cafe were so friendly and efficient. Suite was very spacious with large dining room/kitchenette, 2 full baths, always fresh flowers in our room. We know from past experience, that Puerto Vallarta is NOT a place to do all inclusive, as it has restaurants and history downtown that is second to none. The bus service is right in front of the hotel (10 min. to the Malecon) and for $.65 Cdn. we loved to ride the local bus (bus leaves every min. it seemeed) to dine downtown at a different restaurant each night. If you want a luxurious suite, downfilled duvets and all the other frills, this is not for you. If you want an absolute authentic Mexican experience, great staff and location visit Puerto de Luna.
“Friendliest people on staff”
People were so friendly and helpful, grounds were beautiful and well maintained and the pool was never crowded and breakfast was delicious. You can't beat the weather in Puerta Vallarta . What else could we ask for!!
“An Honest and Fair Review of PDL”
We read through other reviews before choosing to book our hotel stay. We assumed that many people exaggerated their negative experience. I would like to provide an honest and fair review. The front desk and housekeeping staff were extremely helpful & friendly. They were always willing to help with directions, activity ideas, etc. Breakfast was included at their cafe. They offered small meals like omelettes, scrambled eggs, french toast, or pancakes. All food we tried was tasty but the cafe seemed only to be open for breakfast. The pool was large & very clean. The grounds were well kept also. The rooms are very authentic Mexican. I personally liked the idea of staying in a place like this rather than the Sheraton or something American-ish. We had a kitchenette and would highly recommend for buying groceries & keeping leftovers. There is a market/strip mall two blocks away where we made several trips. The one major complaint and the reason we cannot recommend the hotel: the beds. When people said they were hard, it was not an understatement. We slept on the futons in the living area because the bed was hard like I've never experienced. Since the whole purpose of a hotel is to facilitate sleeping, we cannot recommend this hotel. This hotel that is not on the beach. If you are looking for a beachfront stay, this is not the place. Although, we walked across the street and had access to the beach (and pools at the more expensive resorts) so this didn't bother us much.
“nice and quiete”
breakfast in the hotel was very good
“You get what you pay for”
This was a cute place but don't expect too much from this hotel. If you just want an acceptable room with the basics and want to save money then this place is decent. The room was large as was the bathroom with lots of shelf space. Our TV did not work but I didn't go to Vallarta to watch TV so it wasn't a big deal. The bed was a bit hard for my taste. The hotel had free breakfast which wasn't too bad (omelets, chilaquiles, pancakes - with toast and coffee, OJ etc) . The AC worked well, it was loud but it drowned out the outside sound so I didn't mind. The pool was a nice size and you have to cross the street to get to the beach. There are is a medium-sized shopping mall (CARACOL) about 2 blocks away with a grocery store, pharmacy, money exchange, clothing stores, food court, and a couple internet cafes (about 3 dollars for an hour). The buses to the downtown "centro" run frequently and the lady at the desk told us which buses would take us there for about 50 cents per person. Local calls can be made at the front desk for 50 cents a minutes or international calls for 1 dollar a minute.
“A Nice Break From Hotel Chains”
A cute and authentic looking hotel, the Puerto De Luna will throw you for a loop if you are accustomed to the creature comforts of chain hotels. The rooms are housed in groups in individual houses surrounding a surprisingly warm pool and cabana area. This is a very basic, but cozy, family friendly hotel. If there was any partying going on, it was on mute. The staff is helpful and friendly, and the maid service is fantastic. I've never seen maid staff literally put away EVERYTHING. It was like coming home to a brand new room everynight. The room we were in was very spacious, and the bathroom was large too. You even have little roomates! The house geckos come and go as they please, but don't hurt them. They are only eating the bugs you don't want to meet. The only complaint was that the air conditioner leaked a great deal of water. Things to keep in mind: -There are no elevators here. If you have difficulty getting up the stairs, request a lower room, but the odds are that you will still have to go up half a flight. -The A/C is not what you expect if you're used to ice cold rooms -The Wi-fi area is only in the main lobby, but it seemed that they were open 24 hours -If you want to use a laptop, there are no 3 pronged outlets in the rooms. Either bring an adapter (it's the same voltage as US and Canada) or sit in the lobby -If you want to get to the beach, you have to walk across the street. All and all a reasonable hotel. Not fancy, but not a complete dive. Would stay again.
“not impressed”
Worst hotel I have stayed in Puerto Vallarta.
“great experience from Canada”
Rooms were clean and the hotel quiet. Great central location to base from with a rental unit. Make sure you take care of insurance before you enter the country.Kitchen was not to be relied upon so if you're counting on it pre warned.
“"actually felt like mexico"”
for the price we paid ,with a hot meal every morning what can one expect? the buildings and grounds were very nice, very mexican. the room was a bit dated but a great feel compared to the huge resorts. it was clean, comfortable, quiet, nice pool, close to the beach...we loved it!!
“Not Impressed”
Hotel was noisy, walls thin. AirCon very noisy. Pool was very nice with comfortable deck chairs, front desk staff very good. Breakfast was adequate, coffee was good. Long walk to Malecon bus bus is close and so is supermarket which has a great deli section. Place was clean and the sheets were clean, throw the comforter on the floor always.
