“Loved the room by the seashore, good place for families”

We appreciated the location and ambiance of the mexican culture at this hotel.

Area recommendations
Los Tules is located nearest to the historic old town, in the Hotel Zone. Isolated acres of gardens, 7 pools and multiple low rise buildings suited for families and friends to share a common condo with private bedrooms and baths. Big family kitchens and gathering areas, Nice restaurant on the grounds (expensive for eating there daily)

“GREAT HOTEL”

I want to get the stuff that needs work out of the way, the mattresses! I literally removed all the bedding to see if maybe I was sleeping on a boxspring, because it literally felt that laying on a wooden plank. HOWEVER, Mariette (who is the coolest by the way) let us upgrade for a really small fee and we had an amazing room that overlooked the bay. It was absolutely amazing, truly fantastic. However, that room also lacked any type of comfortable bedding. That speaks to how great this place is though, I slept uncomrtably for one week, but still recommend this resort. It is quiet and beautiful and really laid back.

Area recommendations
The Romantic District, Cafe de Olla is by far the best restaurant around! And then of course the immediate area of the resort is absolutely amazing. Then you have to make your way to the malecon and DEFINITELY visit the kiosko bar on the malecon and say Hi to Jorge and Carlos! The two nicest people you can meet in the city!

“Great potential”

There are some good things in this hotel : the pools (more than 5) , the gardens with beatiful coconut trees, the beaches had enough sand and little surf. We spend lots of time on the pools and our kid enjoyed it a lot, because they had unique shapes and depths. The view from our room was great, in front of the pool and the sea. But the condition of the room was deplorable: when we arrived there was fallen tile on the kitchen floor. The A/C was leaking so the room floor was wet at night. The furniture was very old, there were bugs all over, cocroaches mosquitoes. We needed repellent at all times. You cannot leave anything outside at night because it dissapears. One of our beach towels got lost and we had to pay a fine for it !. In general the service was good, but the cleaning service forgot to leave us enough towels one day. Managers did their best though.

Area recommendations
Los tules was in the zona hotelera. The location was very good because we had Plaza Caracol in front. We bought food to cook in Soriana. And beach accesories and medicine .There are lots of restaurants in the food court. You can buy souvenirs but there is more variety in the Mercados in downtown. In general prices are similar as those in the USA.

“Nice hotel in a beautiful setting”

This is a beautiful hotel in a fabulous garden refuge. It was exceptionally quiet except for the rhythm of the waves. The grounds were pleasantly manicured there were several areas to meander thru. As a solo guest, security was good day and night but not overbearing. The beach sellers were kept away from this area unlike other hotels, except that is for condo sales. The rooms were simple but plenty adequate.

Area recommendations
Take the buses out of town both north and south to see some beautiful beaches in less crowded areas.

“Great family resort!!!”

Los Tules Resort is primarily timeshare condos. As such the hotel part is a secondary business. Los Tules Resort is a FAMILY resort. There is an excellent outdoor restaraunt, and other facilities. The other facilities are adequate. As a family resort it is EXCELLENT. Many pools, good security, lots of kids in the swimming pools and a LONG beach front. The grounds are beautiful and well maintained. The hotel rooms are older, quirky, charming, comfortable...and for our room a lot of stairs. We had 4th floor overlooking the beach and ocean, beautiful we saw dolphins in the bay every morning. :) Everything in the room worked...surround shower...fridge...air conditioning...good bed...good maid service. All Good. We were with family and it was as close to perfect as it could get. If it were just me and my wife, we might choose somewhere else...but for a family vacation...there is non better.

“Not a romantic getaway”

This is a better spot if you're traveling with family, can stay for an extended period or are a big fan of PV. The grounds are beautiful- which is so pleasant not to be in a high rise of banging music. However, it is in constant maitenance. The "private" beach is really a few ropes- you're asked every 2-5 minutes if you want to buy something from a beach vendor. That was an extremely dissappointing and mis-marketed piece for us. However, it's walking distance to a huge shopping plaza, and if you had a kitchen in your room- you'd do much better. Don't look here for the swim up bar and nighlight-- but good spot for playing in the waves with grandma and taking a 2-3 week holiday.

Area recommendations
I'd stay in the Romantic District if I did it again-- more great restaurants in walking distance, more life-- though, the grounds were so lovely at Los Tules

“Not impressed at first, left quite satisfied”

The basic room was extremely basic. The beds were hard as a rock, the bathroom was dirty. We asked to be moved to another room and it took them 2 days. I was pleasantly surprised with the upgrade to a suite. The beds were comfortable, the bathroom was very clean. We had much more room. The grounds are beautiful, very well kept. The pools are great. The beach access was wonderful. It is very close by to downtown area (10min on public transportation). All the staff is very helpful and friendly. I would definetly go back to a suite.

Outdoors or beach
The beach at Boca de Tomatlan was great for a relaxing day. The actual beach is somewhat rocky but very calm. The littel restaurants have great food and are very friendly. You've got to try the "Pescado Sarandeado" delicious!

“Loved Los Tules”

Everything about Los Tules surpassed our expectations. We loved the landscaped grounds, the pools and hot tub,the proximity to the beach and town and the traditional mexican atmosphere. Staff was polite and helpful. We were on first floor of an oceanfront condo which was lovely. We never went to the restaurant, preferring to eat in downtown or have breakfast in our room. Soriana was across the street for groceries, the shopping center also had internet cafes, restaurants and laundry facilities. If you are looking for modern facilities with nightlife this is not the place for you. Los Tules is a traditional Mexican resort with many Mexican families staying there. The rooms are clean but not updated. Showers worked great, towel service was provided.

Getting around
The bus system is great, hop on anywhere for 6.5 pesos, about 60 cents. Taxis were everywhere, establish price before you get in, we generally paid forty pesos or about four dollars for travel within the city.
Dining
Some of our favorites were Pepe's Tacos, Cafe de Olla for enchiladas, La Langosta Feliz for whole red snapper, and the street taco stands. Pipi's was also yummy, but was more like any American Mexican restaurant.
