“Beautiful getaway”
Beautiful hotel right on the beach. It had been raining recently so the Ocean Golf course was closed, but the River golf course was nice enough. The food was mediocre for the price. Would recommend going out for dinner to local restaurants. Can't wait to go back!
“Great potential”
The property is beautiful however the hotel is in need of paint and serious renovations. The staff was very kind and upgraded our room when I was upset with the unsafe damaged chairs on my balcony and the walls being all marked up. One day we returned to a hot muggy hoteland no water. The entire property had lost water the entire day. I was lucky enough not to be in the hotel when it lost water pressure due to some broken pipe. Which meant no airconditioning or showers or even working toilets. The staff tried to do what they could, but it was hot for hours until they fixed the problem. I was so glad we left at 7 am and didn't get back till 9:00 that night. I strongly encourage anybody going there to rent a car. If you book excursions it is always in the hundreds. We went on several and only paid the cost of gas for our rental. Also, be prepared to pay big for food every meal was over a $100 no matter what hole in the wall you went to. If you stick to fast food (which means you need a rental car)you can save a ton of money.
“Would stay again”
Nice hotel with good size pool and clean beach area. Outlets are a bit too prciey for the quality of food served. Local area offers good food choices. Would go back on a necxt visit to Puerto Rico
“Bad choice - no services”
We were quite frustrated with this hotel. One reason is that they advertise "A dive shop offers scuba instruction/certification". But they don't have one. They also advertise water sports, but we couldn't even get a snorkeling mask; there is not such service. We booked this hotel because of its location and to do some scuba diving, but we ended up paying eighty bucks for a roundtrip cab to the Conquistador hotel every day (cabs are unusually expensive in PR: rent a car). In addition, the tours they offered at the hotel were quite expensive, more than the usual overcharge you pay when booking at a hotel, and the hotel staff proved incapable of giving intelligible directions. Most of the tours depart from other hotels, so you have to pay for the tour and the ride to the other hotels. The wireless and internet rooms did not work most of the time, the bar closes at 11pm because they don't have enough people, and there is not a place to sit and have a decent coffee in the morning (they do have a tiny coffee shop). To make things worse, the hotel is not well maintained. The room had a lot of moistness, the AC did not work properly--nor the phone, and you could see trash on the corridors (the employees did not seem to care as they walked by). We have been to many hotels in the Caribbean, including PR; this has been the worst.
“Very beautiful...will definitely recommend to friends.”
We had a wonderful stay at the resort...beautiful surroundings with the ocean on one side and El Yunke rainforest on the other. Very helpful staff. Bottled water a bit too pricey...great entertainment in the Marbella lounge with dinner. Rooms comfortable...great pool/hot tub area. Drinks are expensive. Clean beach. Pristine surroundings. Overall an awesome experience.
“not 5 star”
hugely disappointing
“Will not go back, EVER again.”
A/C won't work. Employees were not friendly. The Restaurant and the parking were too expensive. We were kick out of the parking lot because they rented the Casino and we ended parking too far from the Hotel. No Wifi in the room.
“Might Go Back”
First thing's first. The staff was absolutely wonderful. Everyone helpful and cooperative. They went out of their way to make our stay as best as possible. As for the upkeep of the hotel. A whole day without water should have been avoided. Also, our sink had a huge leak the last night we were there. Furthermore, the carpet in the elevator leading into the hotel from the parking garage smelled like a dirty wet dog, carpet needs changing. All in all, the fact that it's a beautiful property and that the staff is awesome, I'm willing to give the resort another chance. Maybe it was just a bad week. Thank you.
“Great hotel but needs a major face lift”
It's my first time in this hotel, everything was great, the service was great too, but you can tell that it is time for some renovations. Some areas look dated and needs some lighting by the pool area. Overall god experience and people very helpful.
“Would like to go back”
Our stay at the Rio Mar was for one night only. The hotel was beautiful and the room was quite comfortable. Unfortunately we did not arrive until approximately 6 PM and had to leave the hotel early the next morning for a meeting. The only difficulty was a problem with the TV. We did not get to enjoy the beach or hotel pool. Hopefully next time!!
