“Good for a short stay”

Very helpful staff in a great place for Old San Juan and Int'l Airport. What I didn't like was the decor. Simply, it was old and very dated. In fairness, that was also reflected in the priceof the room. We found the staff to be wonderful and nice. If I was there for a week -- I'd spend a little more elsewhere. This was a layover until our flight.

Area recommendations
Isla Verde -- affordability and easy access to beaches and Old San Juan (taxi). Numerous good restaurant options.

“I will comeback”

Excellent location for its price, 10mins driving distance from San Juan and less than 5 mins from the airport. Parking is $7/day, which is fine, in and out privledges. My room was satisfying, recently renovated, not too fancy, but decent. Carpet needs some work and door, but otherwise ok. I had ocean view from my room so that was great, i suggest to pay extra $20 a night for such room, with a fridge, microwave, flat screen tv and free basic breakfast, why not? There's a 24hr burger king and 24hr GREAT puerto rican restaurant to your right, wished i had more time there. The beach is literally across the street, about 50 feet. I stayed for a week and liked the place, I will come back here for its price,convenience, and location.

“You will not regret it”

Positive: +Very helpful and friendly staff! + beach across the street + restaurants and shops nearby + fairly safe, lots of police in the streets + WiFi Negative: - no chairs on balcony - no acsess to computer (but there is free WiFi) - breakfast is a bit shabby, but OK.

Area recommendations
Old San Juan and El Yunqe. you should also visit an outlet-store to buy cheap clothes etc.

“"Ok for the purpose intended"”

Hotel staff were great/very helpful! So close to & from the airport. We were on the 2nd floor. Ice machines on 3rd & 4th floors, no vending machines but a basic continental breakfast was served every morning. Location is 1/2 block from the beach-PRIMO!! Condition of the room ok, clean but bathroom had moldy ceilings & the we saw 2 roaches in our room!! Extermination time..

Try staying in a hotel in Condado. More hotels & restaurants to choose from!

“A great getaway!”

We stayed at this Howard Johnson's for our honeymoon and had a great time! It is just yards from a very beautiful beach and has a gorgeous swimming pool. It is surrounded by a mixture of fast food and sit-down restaurants as well as local restaurants that gave us a wonderful variety to choose from! For fantastic Mexican food, walk a couple of minutes to Armando's...it was wonderful! It is just a few short minutes to Old San Juan (by bus it is less than $1 per person and is a comfortable ride). The staff were very accomodating and more than friendly! The front desk staff went out of their way to help us make arrangements to do some tourist activities that we had not set up prior to our arrival...what fantastic service! Worth paying extra for the complimentary breakfast each morning for the convenience, but only if you are satisfied with cereal and pastries to eat. While there, you should go to kayak at the Bioluminescent Bay in Fajarda - worth EVERY penny!! We plan on returning for future anniversaries!!

Area recommendations
There is a great deal of night life within a few minutes walk of the hotel, but I would definitely go to Old San Juan for all of the entertainment and history it has to offer. There are many restaurants and bars, as well as dance clubs, for a variety of tastes and interests. While in Old San Juan, you MUST go to El Jibarito on Sol Street! Absolutely FANTASTIC traditional Puerto Rican food! We ate there twice during the six days we were there and could have easily returned again. Be sure to check out the city wall and castle in Old San Juan...beautiful! There are so many treasures to see there, you should probably plan on spending a couple of days just seeing all of it. If you are a rum drinker, be sure to go to the Don Q house and buy some of their product...so smooth and it is not available outside of Puerto Rico! The bottom line is, there are so many things to see and do in Old San Juan, it is a must to visit!
Dining
El Jibarito in Old San Juan has FANTASTIC traditional Puerto Rican food and a wonderful staff! Armando's Mexican Restaurant in the Isla Verde section of San Juan is a hidden gem...the best Mexican food we have tasted!

“Will never stay here again!!”

This hotel is a dump. Do not stay here. First of all, the Howard Johnson chain is not that great. We initially stayed at Howard Johnson Ponce and the beds were hard, and we had to pay for a refrigerator per day. That was fine except the fact that near the airconditior there were insects, ants i think. The custodian came to our room twice to spray raid - and it didnt work. I told the man to seal the whole, i have my 1 yo running around, but he didnt understand (and i told him in spanish). I thought this place was bad until i booked a room at Howard Johnson San Juan (cardivascular ave) - at this point we were stuck in P.R. due to hurricain irene. This hotel is in a Hospital! I felt like i was in jail. We didnt stay here & was immediately transferd to HJ Isla Verde. Horrible hotel. the gym was closed, equipment broken, had to pay for parking, the room was digusting. It was so dirty that when i came out the shower i could not stop itching (i used my usualy soap). it was so dirty that i put my white towel next to theirs and the hotels towels were a dingy gray color. it was not up to par and i recommend people spring for a better hotel, its worth the $.

Area recommendations
Old San Juan is a better area to sight see, get better food and souvernir shop. In regards to staying, i'm not sure about any hotels over there. i'd do an indepth search in regards to staying at any hotels in P.R.
