Disappointed

Posted 16-Dec-2014
Pros: The beach and pool.
Cons: Train servers better. Teach them how to make a martini.
Location: Lunch at Edith Café. The Metropol and entertainment at ESJ
I have stayed in this hotel before and enjoyed myself. This time the Hotel was under construction. I called ahead to make sure that they would have entertainment. They said yes, but they didn't have any. Since I called ahead I felt that they should have been truthful about the lack of services. They had one area for eating, breakfast lunch and dinner. The meals were blah. The breakfast services did a good job. The workers at the beach were attentive. The servers that go one the beach were not paying attention. The afternoon pool service was bad, poor. They didn't know how to make a martini and I felt that they spent more time talking instead of serving the clientele. The evening pool bar servers were better. The hotel booked other venues and when there is no place to go in the hotel that is an inconvenience Like I said I have stayed here before and liked it. .

Underrenovation: hard to rate

Posted 16-Dec-2014
Pros: The staff.
Cons: Finishing of the renovated rooms; especially the bathrooms.
Meet by excellent staff as soon as we arrived. Front desk staff were superb as they looked at the rooms available to find best renovated unit but still away from noise and active construction. The room be received had partial ocean view, no construction noise, and minimal airport noise. The room was recently redone, but quite frankly the quality of finish was poor. May just be me; and may not bother others as much. Other staff through out the stay were excellent. They had bug spray at the front desk available and you definitely needed it. Helped somewhat, but still arrived home with lots of bites. This was not a hotel problem but something we encountered throughout our 3 week trip.

Disappointing stay at Isla Verda

Posted 11-Dec-2014
Pros: The beach - that's about it.
Cons: Everything but the beach.
Location: The hotel is located right across the street from a major airport. The hotel is also a few unsightly blocks away from restaurants.
The beach here is gorgeous, but the hotel itself was disappointing. The building itself is older and dated. The lobby is small and unimpressive - there isn't even a sitting area. The decor in our room was outdated and the air conditioner leaked. To make matters worse, there was work being done on the hotel when we were there and we felt like we were walking through a construction site. Then there is the fact that the hotel is literally across the road from the airport takeoff strip and every twenty minutes or so, you are treated to the roar of airplane engines. With all this, there's no way I'd stay here again.

Overcharge for everything

Posted 11-Dec-2014
Pros: The facilities were nice. I loved the pool, hammocks, and the ocean view from the hotel was amazing.
Cons: Don't charge so much for everything!
The practice of quoting a low room rate and then adding a $25/day resort fee in fine print is not honest. It costs $44 for a small box of fruit, nachos, and three drinks brought to you at the beach. That's what it costs to eat at a restaurant for a full meal! Parking is $15/day as well, so that, with additional taxes added up to $200 more on our hotel trip that we didn't expect to pay.

I have traveled to Puerto Rico numerous times!

Posted 09-Dec-2014
This was trip number 12 and by far my best experience! The food was amazing, the staff made me and my friend feel like Queens. Sergio was the best bartender and the hotel manager Arturo was as professional as they come! I chose this hotel because of its low price and was skeptical because of renovations. We were unbothered by any of it!!! The hotel was immaculate! The rooms were spotless and you could smell the cleanliness. The pool and beach were so relaxing! I can't say enough to how well we were treated! I would recommend this hotel to any one and would return in a heartbeat! Hopefully they don't raise their prices. This hotel is a hidden gem!

Hotel under lobby construction very dusty... Hotel walls very thin can hear everything from other rooms. Also very close to airport so planes fly very close and it can get loud

Enjoyable, a bit expensive.

Posted 02-Dec-2014
Pros: The staff was friendly and courteous.
Cons: The appearance was not great. Price a bit expensive for the quality of the product and service offered.
The staff was friendly and courteous. The rooms were cleaned properly. Hotel was under construction so it was not as nice as it could have been. Look forward to seeing the final product in the future. The price was a bit expensive for the product.
