Nicely renovated hotel - friendly staff

Posted 26-Mar-2015
My family and I spent 4 days in the San Juan area and chose the Marriott Courtyard as part of an Expedia package deal with Jet Blue. The hotel was renovated not too long ago. The rooms are nice, featuring enough room for the four of us but I would not call it "spacious." You can see the airport from the hotel. That makes it convenient but it also means you will hear jet planes at some point in your stay. We had a room with a "partial ocean - partial city view" meaning it mostly faced away from the airport (looking Northwest) but you could still hear the planes. Not horrible, but you ought to know. Also, the A/C was a little tricky to operate and maybe it needed to be repaired. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. From room service, to the front desk and especially around the pool. Like most hotels, meals are on the pricey side. In general, stay away from the breakfast buffet. The price is fine for kids but for adults, the food quality does not justify the expense. I would say that, with the exception of the fresh fruit and (excellent) coffee, the buffet did not meet my expectations of the Marriott brand. I wish there were an a la carte option. Instead, we opted to eat choices from the cafe in the lobby. Some folks simply opt to walk over to neighborhood restaurants. The main outdoor restaurant was pricey (expected) and incredibly slow (disappointing). The pool cafe was much better. The WiFi worked everywhere and was reasonably fast. A nice stay.

Great weekend getaway!

Posted 23-Mar-2015
We decided to do a quick hop to San Juan for the weekend. This hotel was perfect! Staff was wonderful. Rooms were spacious and clean. Pool and beaches as well as other facilities were great. It is definitely close to the airport...like across the road close. So it's loud. But if you can keep your eye on the ball and realize the beauty of the area & the great staff it's totally worth it! I will stay here again, definitely.

Right on the beach

Posted 22-Mar-2015
Pros: This hotel is right on the beach and the pool is right there too.
Cons: Better interior design.
Location: Airport is across the street, stores and food are within walking distance.
The staff was great, very accommodating. Small gift shop, casino, plenty of restaurants in the hotel, pool, right on the beach, beautiful scenery.

Pros: Facilities and location.
Cons: No comment
Location: On the beach, reasonably close to Old San Juan. Walking distance to very good restaurants and stores.
The hotel was great and most of the staff was excellent. The remainder were OK.

Nice hotel and beach area--east of the hotel is a marine preserve which was very good for walking the beach and very private---decent restaurants within reasonable walking distance and the hotel restaurant had fairly good prices---the resort fee is NOT included in the initial price, so beware of that, but overall, we would stay here again----very close to the airport, which we didn't mind, as the noise inside our room was not a problem when sleeping

Nice location, close to airport nice beach

Posted 15-Mar-2015
Pros: Pool, Beach, Hot Pool and bar area. Check in was easy and nice.
Cons: Service and they need more vegetarian food by the pool, like a veggy burger would be nice.
Location: Everything is close, Old San Juan is a 20min cab drive $21.00. You can walk to Ritz and other hotels.
Clean, good food, nice staff, a little slow but ok. The airport is very close so you do hear the jets and you need to have ear plugs. Only a few plane's landing at night so not to bad over all. Excelent beach, pool and bar. Nice casino too!

Great Getaway before and after cruise

Posted 13-Mar-2015
Cons: The only thing that I can think of for improvements would be to keep the papaya restaurant open longer.
Location: When we visit the Marriott is for relaxation so we do not wonder anywhere. although I have gone to Old San Juan before.
We were lucky enough to stay two days before the cruise left and 3 nights when we returned from the cruise. The days before was a little different as someone complained of noise in our room at 2 am in the morning considering in the room was myself 61 years old my mom at 82 and my Aunt in her 70's, so re got a knock on the door at 2 in the morning which scared all of us. I got up to open the slider door to get air as our air broke in the middle of the night, which has nothing to do with the hotel things happen that is not controlled. The room next door complained about the noise. In the morning I went to the desk and made them aware of what happened and they were surprised that someone knocked on the door instead of a phone call. They were very understanding. My family has stayed at this Marriott 3 times and will continue to stay as long as we can. We just love it there and staff that works there are wonderful. The hotel is very clean.

Perfect getaway from 100 inches of snow!

Posted 12-Mar-2015
Took a quick trip down to San Juan to escape the sub zero temperatures and over 100 inches of snow. Our stay at Courtyard by Marriott Isla Verde was just the thing to cure us. We were lunching on the beach a mere 30 minutes after landing. One of the reasons we chose the property. Food was good and the accommodations perfect. We will retun.

Low key relaxation

Posted 10-Mar-2015
Pros: On a beautiful beach, lots of pools, enough lounges and towels and a very accommodating staff.
Cons: More upscale dining for dinner would have been nice.
Location: On the beach, a water park nearby and a park for hiking. Many good restaurants within walking distance. Casino in the hotel and more nearby.
We were looking for a place on the beach laid-back and low key but yet with the creature comforts we love. We found all that here. Everyone on staff from the desk to housekeeping (Ana was THE best!) the casino and beach/pool were all so nice and accommodating. Nothing fancy in the food department but there were wonderful restaurants for each meal right down the street if you choose to venture out. Very safe area and walkable. We're beach people and there were always more than enough lounges and chairs on the beach...David was awesome! Swim up pool bar was great with the very handsome and friendly Julio. Everyone at this establishment works hard with a smile for you and a pleasant, positive thing to say. (Please tip everyone well!) We highly recommend this resort and look forward to a repeat vacation here.
