The beauty of this hotel was only surpassed by service provided by the staff. Everyone from the concierge to the gardner was helpful and professional. No question was left unanswered, no request too difficult. We will be back. The location to the town center, beach, shopping and transportation was great. The pool is delightful and plenty big enough to enjoy. Lots of sun or shade to sit or lay around the pool as well. We can't wait to book our next trip to the Millennium.
The Palace didn't start as a luxury hotel but rather a private residence. But now it is open to the public to get a glimpse of what it must be like to live like royalty! The location is ideal. The Cliff House is literally built into the ocean-side cliff. The main building (The Palace) is set back across wonderful landscaping and terraced walkways with fantastic views. A third building (the guesthouse) has 4 guest rooms as well.
This is an ideal location for a relaxing and private vacation. Meals are set out by the staff on the back porch which receives a wonderful breeze all day. Other covered porches and gazebos offer relief from the sun when needed. The pool is comfortable and refreshing. Local wildlife includes resident chickens and peacocks.
However, all of these amazing facilities pale in comparison to the tremendous staff whose only mission seems to be to pamper you and make you feel like you are the only guests in the hotel. To be fair, on two nights, we were. But the morning, afternoon, and evening staff were attentive, courteous, helpful, polite and right there whenever they were needed. The service is truly world-class--unmatched at all but the most exclusive luxury international hotels.
Details: Location on the ocean, not as some Google Maps put it in Rio San Juan. Look for the kidney-shaped pool. ATM available in town; staff will give you a ride. Get a ride from airport thru the hotel to save hassle; meal plan available at hotel too.

Setting was very pretty, cleanliness was very evident, staff super friendly and outgoing. Language was rarely a barrier. Only negative was the shows at night . The preshow 's were fun to get audience involved but the shows were poor quality costumes and performance.
We reserved the Royal Suites for our second day in teh Puerto Plata area. The first day we stayed at Casa Colonial and it was awsome! At Lifestyles from the begining even checking in was painful, there were a lot of people we had to wait to check in and then wait for the room to be ready. Once we got to the room we were very dissapointed it was not what is advertised in the pictures on the web site, in fact it was old, not kept up to date.
Another issue is trying to make reservations to have diner in one of the gourmet restaurants. this should not be a hassle but here it is. We had a VIP bracelet and we stayed for one night and because of this I have called well in advance to let them know I was concerned that we may not be able to get a reservation and was tyold they will accomodate, when I arrived it was very dissapointing and got no help what so ever; in fact the only restaurants they told us had opening were the mexican, dominican, chinese and the buffet restaurants. We chose the chinese restaurant and was a big mistake because the food was awful, we did not eat all our food and joinned other couples that lefty tgis restaurant and went to the buffet.
There seemes to be VIP areas that are nice and sounds like the villas and presidential suites may be in better shape. I may give this place another shot if I were to stay at one of these rooms and try one of the gourmet restaurants hoping we have a better experience next time
