Not the best all inclusive on the island

Posted 06-May-2015
Pros: Ground were very well kept and clean. quiet resort with limited participation and minimal encouragement from staff.
Cons: Needs a new Activities Director
Location: Highly recommend trip to mountains and water falls provided is after recent rainfall.
Cleanliness of food operations was sub par. Shared use of serving (sometime greasy) utensils was disturbing. Several food preparers/cooks did not use US industry standard in handling food after wiping brow in the heat of the cooking sections. gloves what gloves?

3.5 to 4 Stars - Great food

Posted 06-May-2015
Pros: The food mostly and everything is close by as it is a small resort.
Cons: Rooms could be updated and staff should be nice regardless of tips. One doesn't always carry cash at an all inclusive or while in bathing suits.
Location: Not a good location but hence the price. I did feel safe on the beach and went to the local shops to the right.
I stayed 3 nights from 4/28-5/1 and my fiancé and I agreed this was a great find. Food: was great with a good selection and plenty of healthy options. Drinks: are cheap but you can ask for better "wells" such as barcelo and brugal for rums. Staff: most staff was just ok, they turned great when tipped. I do not think I would go back because 3 days was enough to enjoy what they have to offer, but if you are looking for an economic vaca where you wont get sick from water and food this is a great place!

Above Average

Pros: Japanese restaurant was the best part of the stay!
Cons: Drink service at the pool is severly lacking. The buffets are unbearably hot and uncomfortable.
Location: Puerto Plata did not appear to be a safe place to go. The cable car ride was nice.
The hotel itself is situated halfway between the airport and Puerto Plata and is right on the beach. Airport transfer is easy and quick. It will cost you $35 one way. If you coordinate with the hotel in advance, you can purchase RT transfer for $50. We upgraded to an ocean view room. The view was nice, but probably not worth the extra money. We were in building 5, room 5115 (2nd floor) and had the dive shop almost right beside us. A long hike seperates you from all of the restaurants and the pool which are on the other end of the complex. The closest structure to this building is the dive shop. The rooms have a minifridge but no liquor. The buffets were fine, pretty much your standard all-inclusive fare. The biggest downside though is that none of them are airconditioned. You find yourself dripping with sweat while you eat, which is not very enjoyable. The specialty restaurants were better. I wouldn't do the brazillian one a second time. It is basically the snack bar turned into a restaurant at night. Again, not air conditioned and the food was all bland. The mexican place was good but the Japanese restaurant was by far the best! A big shout out to Kelvin the chef, he did a great job. The pool is nice, but the drink service needs a major improvement. It's basically non existent... The evening entertainment was good and they have a cultural night where they bring in merchants to sell souvenirs. There is really no reason to go into town.

nice calm location, close to airport

Posted 18-Apr-2015
Pros: very friendly stuff, clean pool and beach, good food.
Cons: The rooms needs to be renovated, blanket and bed cover were old and seemed dirty. The shows were the worst I saw. The artists couldn't sing at all.
Location: good quiet and safe location, not much to do near but I wasn't looking for this. There were a lot of activities in resort
I liked the resort: very friendly staff, clean pool and beach, good food. The room was a little outdated but clean except the bed cover and blanket (they seemed very old). Also I didn't like the shows. The artists definitely couldn't sing. Despite all negative things I really enjoyed staying in this hotel. I don't think I will come back there but I definitely will recommend it to my friends.

Best Place on Earth!

Posted 16-Apr-2015
Pros: Everything was just perfect.
Cons: N/A
Location: Beach is very nice, and relaxing. Excursions are fun. Casino/Club outside the hotel is fun(but don't do it alone).
Had a 3 night stay at Iberostar with some friends. I enjoyed every aspect of this resort. Including the excursions (which are not included in the amenities). Staff members are great. Looking to come back very very soon!

Nice resort, food can be better

Posted 12-Apr-2015
Stayed for 5 nights, my daughter liked the kids club, especially the show they do at night. I used the gym, which is pretty sparse but was able to improvise. The pool was nice with a shallow end for kids and a deeper section. My room overlooked the ocean with a balcony which was great. My only suggestion would be to have maybe a tiered system for food, so if you want better quality you can upgrade for that. On the first night the food was pretty bad. Everything was fine, friendly hotel staff, clean rooms, and enough entertainment.
