Nice hotel staff very friendly

Posted 25-Mar-2015
Stayed for my best friends wedding hotel view was beautiful staff was very friendlyfriendly only concern was very strict with their towel cards. I can get a room key no problem but they gave me a hard time replacing my towel card. They wanted to charge me $10 bucks to replace it. Also the WiFi was very spotty (not a big concern for me though) I wasn't able to get WiFi in my room I had to be closer to the lobby.

First Trip to the Dominican Republic

Posted 23-Mar-2015
Pros: We liked that it was well-maintained and that the staff was friendly and helpful.
Cons: I wasn't happy with my massage. I've had many massages & this one felt like I was only being rubbed down with oil. I doubt she was a trained masseuse.
Location: We did the day trip into the town. It was only a few hours and we were back in time to enjoy the rest of the day. Don't recommend any extended trips.
This was my family's first trip to the Dominican Republic. Everyone we know who has travelled there has come back raving about the wonderful time they had. Ours was no exception. We stayed at the Iberostar upon recommendation from friends. We were greeted at the hotel as soon as our shuttle arrived. The bellhops assisted with our luggage and held them for us until we checked in. Check-in was easy. The bellhop took our luggage to our rooms and we were ready to enjoy our stay. The facility is large, but well-maintained. They have a beautiful orchid garden on site. The employees were cordial, helpful and went out of their way to make us feel welcome. Food is available all day at various locations. Our daily routine consisted of breakfast at the marketplace buffet. Followed by lots of sun-bathing and swimming by the pool and/or beach. Lunch was either at the poolside buffet or if available, at the beach. The resort offered various activities such as Zumba, archery, scuba diving, etc. All available for free. There were also plenty of activities for the children. For dinner we made reservations at three of the restaurants on-site and then ate at the market buffet for the remaining evenings. Of the three restaurants we enjoyed the Hibachi restaurant the best. After dinner we were treated to live shows every evening. We then enjoyed dancing in their outdoor rotunda or at the small nightclub. The live shows were entertaining, although not of high caliber. Overall we had a great time.

Friendly hotel, helpful stuff but not 5 star .

Posted 08-Mar-2015
Pros: The service was excellent, the stuff very pleasant and ready to please you.
Cons: Room needs update, the beach to be kept cleaner, and less boring food.
Location: Location OK.
It was our first time at this resort. Pool, grounds, room clean. Rooms need updating but the beds were comfortable Food, a bit boring after 6days but you wont starve. Burgers were awful though. Beach-nice but walking to left you will discover garbabe littered all over past the resorts-a shame. Staff, really sweet if you offer a smile first and act human and not a like a prima dona that deserves to be catered too. They go above and behind to please you. Entertainment staff really tries hard to involve all and are friendly.

Nice getaway

It was great escaping winter! The hotel was nice. I wish there were more things to do on beach like motorized water sports.

This is the best resort in this area however

Posted 14-Feb-2015
Cons: Customer service and cleanliness.
Location: Not much. We took an excursion to a near by town to do research and the guides had difficulty finding our destinations.
If you must go to this area of the DR, the resort is the best there. the area is very poor and the resort is tired and hard to maintain. The food was better than expected, in fact better than Iberostars in Cancun and Playa. You can tell it is a distressed area as there are no motorized water sports in fact we saw very few boats of any size or shape on the waters. There were few Americans and most guests were Canadians and Germans. Smoking of cigars and cigarettes was rampant. We could not stay in the one bar area or theater because of the haze of the smoke. The beach was also littered with cigarette filters. The resort leaned the beach but the refuse from the neighboring resort and public beach was filthy both in the water and on land. The staff was so so. Some were very helpful and polite but others were rude and unfriendly. The food and the weather were the highlights. We were invited to join friends at the last minute because of some research he was doing in the area. Since we had stayed in Iberostar properties before and it was an escape from the deep snow, we went without doing any research. Our fault.

Good value for the money.

Posted 01-Feb-2015
Pros: Very nice territory , palms, tropical shrubs, orchids, peacocks Excellent spas and gym.
Cons: Rooms need some renovation. They look very plain, too simplistic for this type of hotel . More hand sanitizers. Food and drink servants hand hygiene!
Location: Great countryside tour with visiting native village, cigar plant and 27 waterfalls.
We were impressed by how they design and maintain property, resort looks like located amidst beautiful tropical forest. Personal very friendly. Especially bartender Juan from beach side bar. Please tip the best personal responsibly. TV set they change three times though. Buffet food was rather good, restaurants about 3-3.3 from 5. So they have plenty space for improvement.

Best staff, great weather, nice beach

Posted 26-Jan-2015
The staff at the hotel really took good care of us. There is inclusive food available around the clock. The grounds are gorgeous, but the rooms are a little less chic and more boho. The weather was great, I went late January. Bring cash, for the hotel taxi ride to the airport after. Was not overcrowded. Lots of hotel fun and games. Pretty orchid garden and jacuzzis.
