    “Will Never go back”

The food in this place was horrible, you could smell the bad odor and could tell the food was being reused!!! The food was not fresh or tasty at all. Some of the male guests had prostitutes as their guests. One prostitue had her teen daughter and toddler son with her. The didn't have any programs for teens and I didn't not want my son exploring on his own when there were prostitutes there!! I have been to this beautiful island many times but this is the first time I ever had this experience!!!

    “the worst resort ever”

the food was awful, the food that was served for lunch was saved for the evening. the drink were hot, when they were supposed to be served cold. the bread was stale. the beache was extremely filthy. I am suprised that this resort is still open. the way this resort is operating it appears that it would be a matter of time before it shuts down completly.

    “Its True What They Say...”

Planned a "Single Man" trip to Puerto Plata... Read the reviews about this place on expedia.com, Bookit.com etc. Expedia had the best rates so I booked with expedia. Ok, Saw a few reviews from past guest stating that they didnt have hot water in thier room. I also experienced this. Unable to take a "hot" shower till day#3 on a 4 day stay. (I did wash, it just wasnt that comfortable Didnt matter much because I was hardly at the resort in my suite. Stayed a night in a hotel in Sosua one night and they didnt have hot water iether so...go figure) Made a total of 4 calls about the hot water... Saw a few reviews stating that the food left much to be desired. I also experienced this but to the defence of the resort, Thats just how it is anywhere you go in northern DR The food is just different from the food in the US. (will make you have a new found respect for the USDA) Oh and if you can, Bring your own wine... you can drink DR wine all day long and never get happy. How they manage to water down wine? I have no Idea but if you enjoy a good glass wine you will only be satisfied with DR wine if you are the type of person who "appreciates differences" The beach was Awsome Great shaded view from my suite aswell at the restaraunt that serves breakfast. Breath taking view of the beach running to the mountains in the distance. Like something you only see on TV or in pictures. I will make sure that when I return in March and then next Sept to check hot water when I first check in...

Hmm, well, I rented an SUV and went off road.Turned my vacation into an ecotourism trip! Beautiful country side. If you have a good GPS (Like on a Droid or any google phone)you can find roads that take you to secluded beaches along the coast!! Very romantic and great spots to take pictures. DONT DARE try this in a standard rental car. You will have to cross rivers(more like streams) by driving through them!! alot of fun if your are adventurist. Also try driving to Santiago via one of the mountain routs. Beautiful mountain vistas and country side. You also get to see how much of the locals live. Again if your are going off road or through the mountains you will need an SUV the bigger the better trust me.
    When to go
When ever you go plan your trip atleast your flight as early as possible. Really expensive flying to DR for some reason. The taxes on airfare are like 50% or close to it.
    Getting around
Rent a car. Thats what I did. I love my freedom
    What to pack
if you rely on technology like mobile internet or for your GPS. Make sure you have a backup plan...
    Dining
Eat at Hemingway or the other restarant in the rear of the shopping complex if you want food that tastes remotely american.
    Nightlife
Explore all day Sleep all night. Or go to the DIscos.
    Outdoors or beach
Go off road and find your own private beach. Take your lover and create a "Blue Lagoon" love scene.

“Perfect Size! Beach View Dining! Great Time!”

We went with a group of 9 in August of 2010. Great time was had by all. It was great to be able to dine with a view of the beach. I believe this resort offers you the best beach location in Puerto Plata. You can get from your room to the pool, bars, restaurants, and beach with a very short walk. I paid for an ocean view room and didn't actually like the view because there were some palm trees and a basketball court outside my room which was not the ambiance I was looking for. However, the hotel staff quickly changed my room to one of my liking. I was very happy with my new room and quick customer service. The specialty restaurants were great and the buffet always had something for everyone. Only complaint came.. .only one key per room...and from the kids... no chicken nuggets... other than that we were extremely happy with our vacation. Also...check out their magic show if you can... it was amazing.

    Other
Remember to tip the staff...it goes a long way ...into making sure... you and/or your family have great service! We never waited long for anything!!

“great for the price dont believe the bad reviews”

The hotel was great for the price. dont believe the bad reviews because this is just an average 3 star resort. yes there are alot of locals on weekends. the rooms are really nice and comfy. the pools are great and the pool bar isawesome. thejacuzzi is great too just that small children are not aloud inside because the chlorine is too much i guess. the beach is nice but if u want big waves this beach is not for you. the water is calm a bit rough during sunset but nice white sand. locals try to sell u stuff but just say no thank you unless u want to buy something. the food is very good just that there isnt that much of a variety in the buffet but still awesome taste. the best parts are the night clubs inside the resort and outside

    Getting there
It was exiting when we arrived until we made it to the Hotel. the issued with the rooms and some of the people who works in the Hotel made me feel unconfortable. The reason was because they constantly kept asking me to do things that I didn't want to do, eventhough I kept saying no thank you.
