Very pleased !

Posted 15-Mar-2015
I had a very good experience, I love the all inclusive package, it's worth the money, I was very pleased with the hospitality and some of the beach scenes are spectacular especially the view of the mountain as a landscape for the ocean.

One night stay

Posted 14-Mar-2015
Pros: beach
Cons: rooms need updating. Very run down.
Room was very old and needs upgrades. Paint peeling off wall, fridge was taken out of room so bare spot where it was. Beds were not comfortable. No wash clothes in our room. Called front desk but never got them until 9:00 am next morning.

Best Bargain in Puerto Plata - Great Beach

Posted 06-Mar-2015
Pros: Location, Best part of Playa Dorada Beach, size of rooms, quiet -no continuous booming music like most, hot shower with good water pressure
Cons: Would like healthier cereal options (no sugar) otherwise a good array of choice at breakfast More hangers-recommend bring your own wire ones
Location: Best part of the Beach-can snorkel just past Grand Paradise, reefs close to shore, great walking beach, 15 mins to local market, great golf course
As a former travel agent, I have travelled in many hotels in Cuba, Mexico, Jamaica and the Dominican Republic. This hotel is a very good bargain for a three star, rooms are large, clean and we stayed in building 19-the shower was the best in the Caribbean-I had to turn it down it was so hot. Great beach, very close to golf course (Playa Dorada-excellent-hotel gives discount too) and mall. Other pluses, a huge one really, was the ability to go to the a la carte restaurants as much as we liked, not just 3x a week like most all inclusive resorts. Buildings are older but there is a beauty and tranquility -no booming music at the pool or the beach. The staff are very friendly, my second time back and it was fabulous. I liked the peace and quiet. If you are looking for a party place or huge bar, this isn't for you. The a la cartes were good, buffet ok, not large but you can always find something. The fresh omelets were very good, pasta made to order great (with garlic). We stayed 3 weeks, will go back next year for the same. The quiet and the friendliness of the staff will keep me and my partner coming back.

Don't expect much

Posted 01-Mar-2015
You get what you pay for. I got an awesome deal but don't expect a four star resort. If you just want a cheap place to stay and want to be by the beach and are not very particular this is your place. Rooms look nice and clean but beds were very sunken. Refrigerator made a wierd noise all day/night. You had to lift the toilet cover to flush. Staff is nice but often times overwhelmed at front desk. I think their system is slow. They don't know much about local ways to get around in the city just take an expensive taxi ride. They do have a travel desk but they are selling you tours which were great! Jacuzzi wouldn't warm up and dirty. I guess no one uses it cause it doesn't work so they don't sweep and clean the area. Other then that staff is really nice. Almost missed our bus to our next destination because their reliable taxi driver Guillermo didn't show up to pick us up. They gladly called another cab. The Pool was nice and the place is old but not run down. Overall it wasn't that bad. Like I said, you get what you pay for.

Disappointment in Puerto Plata

Posted 07-Jan-2015
as a 20something female American traveler with other young female companions - I felt very uncomfortable around certain staff members and the overall level of professionalization of the staff leaves much to be desired. The facilities have clearly seen better days and cleaning staff will enter your room while you are still present. In general I do not recommend this hotel to groups or families.

Hotel of horror. Stay away mold infested Hotel.

Posted 01-Jan-2015
This is by far the worst hotel ever. Hotel rooms smell like mold. Lamps had missing bulbs. I was moved to second room and bathroom leaked from air condition. I spent 3 days moving from room to room. FOOD WAS HORRIBLE ran out of food every hour after lunch and dinner. not enough staff to attend to guest. No variety of food same thing every day. Most rooms were vacant. No Free Wifi etx Worst Vacation Ever
