“Relaxing, reasonable beach vacation”
The resort was nice, well maintained, short drive from the airport. There was a good variety of food selection at the buffet, it wasn't 5-star food but for what you pay the food is good, they offer specialty restaurants but not all of them were open every night so you did need to eat at the buffet for all 3 meals some days. The pool was large with ample seats and umbrellas surrounding (only negative was no swim up bar!). The beach area was nice also. The staff was very friendly and easily accessible. They had activites throughout the day lead by the activites staff, some nights there were shows at the theater also. Rooms were good size with nice decor, thermostat was difficult to control though and our room was always freezing cold, also had a leak in the ceiling from all the rain which it took them a few hours to attend to but they did change us to a new room quickly when it couldn't be fixed. Overall, good, relaxing vacation - it wasn't a 5-star resort but for the reasonable price you pay it was better than expected.
“not worth staying.”
I usually do not write reviews but this hotel is a mess. I have stayed in 3-4 star hotels and this is not it. the area and inside the hotel room is infested wit mosquitos. a big no no since I was traveling with a toddler. The quality of the food is very poor. The pool is the only worth place in the resort. the entertainment was ok, they do try to make you laugh. maintanace does not exist in this resort. I stayed in one of the newest rooms and it needed at least a coat of paint. the lamps are rusted. the bathroom tub stained and outside the bathroom door has a water leak that definetely has not been fixed. I might not be surprised if mold was behind the wall. all tho these problems and when I complain they had the nerve to say that it is one of their best rooms!!. I can compare the resort to a motel 8 here in the states. nothing luxurious or even descent about the resort. pay a little extra money and stay else where. My husband even saw a few "call girls" obviously because they where very explicit to him. not a children enviorment. weekends expect to see many many locals since they open the doors for them... imagine you pay full price for your vacation and then the locals pay a mere small fee to enter and take over the place. I would love for this resort to not be advertise but that is up to somebody else discretion. Again I am not trying to be mean but I am just saying what I saw.
“We not go back”
The food was not good at all very little vairty the show was boring and the service was very slow
“A Great Time Had By All !!”
7 day stay. First two days dealing with hurricane Irene, The management staff keep the guests informed & safe. Changing my ocean view until storm had passed. Staff was delightful. Three specialty Restaurant were good. Terrific Drinks (I tipped the bartenders day one). Pool OK, Great Beach. I celebrated my birthday, and the entertainment staff made it a wonderful day. One of the best in Puerto Plata.
“Great Hotel but DON'T GO ON THE WEEKEND”
Overall the hotel was great but do not go Friday or Saturday.. it was full with annoying locals. They come by the bus loads, the service on the weekend is not as good as well.
“Exactly what I was looking for!”
Good value for the money.
“It was not a four star i give it a 3”
The the personal that cleans the rooms did a very poor job.
“Good value for your money”
First time coming to this hotel. Great staff, great pool, and beautiful beach. The food was not 5 star but not bad. I would definitely return.
“not impressed”
Didn't give us the room we paid for...the room we had smelled very musty.
“Worst Food EVER”
The hotel experience was nice overall because of the service of the staff. Due to the food I will never visit Be Live Grand Marien again. Additionally, they try to sell your a vacation club. I do not want to be hounded with a sales pitch when I am on vacation. The people that work at the resort made the experience worhtwhile. However, part of the main reason you travel is for food and beverage and it SUCKED at this resort.
