“An older Hotel”

Our stay at the Imperial Hotel was mixed. There are many positives. It is cute in an antique Mexican hotel sort of way. The people at the desk were friendly and helpful, but only one spoke English well. Now for the negativesThe breakfast (toast, melon and weak coffee) and the "snack" were well below what we expected. There is a bakery 6 blocks from the hotel...3 Sur and Reforma...and after the first morning we picked up delicious pastries and had breakfast in our room. Our sink failed and the shower curtain was on its last legs. Finally, a group of students were staying at the hotel. They created lots of noise at night and the hotel did nothing to stop this. The location is great and we enjoyed our stay in Puebla immensely.

Area recommendations
We stayed near the Zocalo and I can't imagine staying elsewhere unless you had a car.

“A Good Deal in the Thick of it.”

Puebla is a beautiful colonial city. Its location makes it a nice two day stop over from the DF to Oaxaca. Nestled in Puebla's Centro Historico, is the Hotel Imperial. While not quite up to "imperial" standards, it is an affordable hotel that is comfortable and close to everything. While not offering all the amenities a Camino Real, it is a clean and basic place to stay that is a short walk from everywhere in el Centro. It does have one outstanding feature in that it offers filtered tap water. In addition, a continental breakfast is provided. If you can forego all the luxuries of the four star places and just need a place to crash, the Imperial is an option.

Area recommendations
I would suggest staying in the Centro Historico and seeing that area for one day and then taking a collectivo over to Cholula for a second day.

“Good location, but disappointed by the gym and the bathroom in the room”

Basic hotel but good location. The only inconvenient thing is that the bathroom is pretty small and separated by a transparent door in the room, which is not helpful when you are staying with a friend! (The Gym: the three machines available are not working properly and date back from the 90s!)

“Hotel im Herzen Pueblas”

Das Hotel erscheint von aussen recht unscheinbar, doch von innen relativ gross und geräumig. Es ist im Baustil Pueblas gebaut und dekoriert und liegt 2 Strasse vom Hauptmarktplatz und der Kathedrale entfernt. Die Zimmer sind relativ gross und schön möbliert. Doch es ist alles nicht mehr neu und z.B. die Stühle erschienen mir so antique, dass ich sie am liebsten nicht nutzen wollte. Der Service ist sehr gut und die Angestellten überaus hilfsbereit. Das servierte Frühstück bestand aus Toast, Marmelade, Müsli, frischen Früchten, Joguhrt, Kaffee und Säften. Das Internet im Hotel war teilweise etwas langsam, hat aber überall funktioniert. Wer nicht mit zu hohen Erwartungen, bezüglich des Standards, anreist wird mit dem Hotel zufrieden sein.

Area recommendations
Die Innenstadt, der Markt und die Strassen drum herum leben Nachts total auf, so dass sich Bummel sehr empfehlen lässt, genauso sollte man sich mal die Süssigkeitenläden, die es an jeder Ecke gibt, anschauen. Die Kathedrale ist sehr sehenswert, genauso wie die Kunstmärkte die es in der Umgegend gibt.
