“good”
it was a pleasant stay
“Grand old style”
Great location and lovely old building. we hope to return soon. Room was comfortable though a minor irritation existed. e.g. no night stand or bedside lamp on one side of the (very comfortable) bed. Other than that....perfect.
“absolutely beautiful restoration of a grand old hotel”
When you walk in the front door, there is a grand staircase and mezzanine. Elegantly decorated lobby and rooms. Easy walking distance to the PPAC.
“historic”
It was nice for a very historic hotel.beds were above average but had difficulties getting coffee supplies. And extra towels. We traveled with our two teen-aged. Girls so needed towels ...location was excellent don't miss federal hill restaurants ....overall very nice don't miss a trip to newport and scenic drive.
“Great hotel - Great location - Can't go wrong!”
The hotel is in a nice location; traveled there on business and walked to Federal Hill for dinner; walked downtown for breakfast. The area is really nice and peaceful. Across the street they had an ice skating rink; a couple blocks up was the mall. Everyone very attentive. Room was neat and clean. I liked the ceiling fan above the bed. Nice touch. Bathtub/shower was basic (no curved rod or upgraded shower head) - but that is the only thing that I noticed. Will be back.
“pick the right room”
We reserved the lowest priced room that had only one king-sized bed and requested a room with two beds. None was available but we were told that we could be upgraded the next day. (We were staying for three days.) The first room was a connecting room with a door that let sound from the next room through it. I was awakened at 3:30 am by my neighbor who was Skyping and playing videos. After a half hour, I gave up and knocked on his door to ask him to stop, which he did. The following day we were moved to the room with two beds that turned out to be a suite. Lesson learned: Pay the few extra bucks for the room with two beds. It was one of the better rooms I've stayed at in any hotel for the price.
“retro style with clean feeling!”
I booked one room (superior king bedroom) for the week-end on thanksgiving. When we arrived for the checking, they nicely upgraded us to a junior suite, for no reason, just for the thanksgiving spirit (well and maybe the low number of guests...)! Anyway, room was clean and big, clean bathroom. It would just need a little bit of new painting, but so far so good. Starbucks close to the lobby, restaurants, bars and stores all around, easy walk to the providence mall or Brown University. This hotel was so beautiful, a jewel from the 1920s which hasn't been destroyed by over-renovation and crazy flat-screen/music. Well, in case you wonder, I'm very young but I do enjoy early art nouveau building, comfy and calm hotels. This was a perfect match and I will definitely go again.
“2nd stay this month”
problems at check in 1st stay they wanted 50.00 deposit besides my payment in full thur my res. 2nd stay they wanted 100.00 deposit plus my paid in full res.both thur expedia what's going to happen on my 3rd stay 150.00 deposit...someone needs to do somethig about this that's the only thing that makes me want to look elsewhere for my 3rd stay in the city in about 2 weeks it's not smart bussiness for return customers steve l
“Will go back”
When I stay at a hotel, I expect the rooms to be more than clean, the front desk people to me more that ready to make my stay the best it can be. I expect the same from the dining staff. This hotel had all of that, it is an old (historic) property and has some of the original accents but does not lack any of the modern comforts. The room was huge and the bed gave me the best night sleep Ive had in a long time. I have stayed at the Hilton and the Marriot (both Marriots in Prov, RI). The Biltmore was the nicest, friendliest and most accommodating out of all of them, there was no air of superiority there.
“Beautiful place, friendly and efficient staff”
A beautiful old-fashioned Grand Hotel in a lovely neighborhood. Staff went out of their way to be helpful. Wish we could have stayed longer.
